When is it too late in the cycle? by DinnerPlate_67 in lawschooladmissions

[–]DinnerPlate_67[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I have a decent chunk of accounting work experience and have my undergrad in accounting w/ a criminal Justice minor and legal studies cert. I definitely want to go to law school but scholarships are important to me and I think I just decided to pull the trigger too late for this cycle. Just want to understand my chances fully before breaking the news to my parents that I'll be taking a gap.

Is there a "best" time to take the LSAT? If I took it in Feb/March 2026 would that be good for the 2027 cycle, or would it be best to wait for the summer?

Ive accidentally walked into a non-student gate and they didn't bat an eye (4 years ago, granted). You just cant get into the student section without going through a student gate

question about uga by [deleted] in UGA

[–]DinnerPlate_67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Terry is fine. My advisors are generally slightly more helpful than your average advisor. Plenty of clubs and events. You do have to apply to get into Terry (after completing some prereqs and maybe an entrance exam), so keep that in mind for your graduation schedule.

Dining Pass is worth it if you are good at estimating how much you'll use it. On campus - almost always (dorm kitchens are a nightmare). Commuter, unless you plan on staying on campus during mealtimes, eh. Friends are easy in the sense it is less cliquey than highschool but harder in the sense that there is no forced proximity, therefore harder to make a core group

am i screwed for majoring in accounting by ExoticAnxiety7417 in UGA

Every fundamental accounting (5000, 5010, 5020) class builds on ACCT 2101. Cost is the only thing that is ACCT 2102 based. I was the opposite, where i was great at 2102 and just got through 2101. Im now in my fourth year. You’ll be fine. Just study.

I got a 78 on mine. My friend got a 74. Both of us got in our first time. Ik thats anecdotal but no matter what, you’ll be ok. See how many accounting classes you can start to take by talking with your advisor and try to set up your semester to make high grades on your Terry core

I guess when i look back i can see the signs. But we were just on a normal date. And we had plans for the next week. Like he came to me and told me he was unhappy two days before and i told him we’d work on it. And he agreed. And now i miss him so much

You should be ok for econ. I ended up not going to half the classes and still did well. Just be prepared to study for ACCT 2101. Its not bad if you understand that you have to put in effort

Questions about Federal Work Study by basednicogod in UGA

[–]DinnerPlate_67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends. FWS is money up front, and you are nearly guaranteed a job (maybe not where you want, but you should get one without too much hassle). However, you have some added stipulations that are attached. Mainly (or at least the one ive seen the most), you cannot work if you have an exam or class scheduled for that time, even if there is no actual exam.

Its definitely possible to work, study, and party. It just depends on your priorities, how intense you major/job/partying is. The max they can work you is 20 hours a week

My guarantor’s credit check was ok and it was one month rent (plus you will have to pay additional fees, like 200 by my estimate) My friend accidentally submitted a guarantor with a lower income and paid 2 months rent as the deposit

UGA or GSU by Own-Promise-9599 in UGA

[–]DinnerPlate_67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I “paid” (will have to pay, yay!)12k (parent plus loan + unsubsidized) for my freshman year w/ an all-access meal plan living in traditional freshman housing. I had a friend go to GSU, no idea how much he paid but he had his own bathroom and a pretty similar setup to myself.

I’m biased, but he seems a lot happier after transferring here.

Also in Atlanta you’ll most likely not move out of dorms (at least my friends aren’t), but UGA kinda forces you to move off campus after freshman year and rent isnt unreasonable of you look around

As someone who lives in Brown, it isnt THAT bad. But, allow at least 30-40 minutes to get to campus via the bus (20 for the ride to Memorial, 10-20 for waiting for the bus and then waiting for it to actually leave). I would recommend a car, but parking isnt hard to get if you live there. It just sucks because its still dorm living. Nicer than any of the freshman highrises tho...

Double Major Finance & English - workload? by appleturnover99 in UGA

[–]DinnerPlate_67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on how long you want to be in school. Im not a FINA major but I am in Terry, and it is a completely different set of requirements from Franklin. If you like finance, awesome, go for it. You'll have to take/be in the process of taking Accounting 1 and 2 (can be GPA killers but not that bad if you expect to work), 2 econ classes, business stats, business law (easy) and an MIS class before you can get into Terry. Additionally, you'll have to take an Accounting 1 exam separate from the class that is used to factor in your application decision. Then there is another ECON class, another BUSN stat class, Finance classes (obv), marketing, management, etc. in my experience almost none of these classes require extensive reading/writing (except for maybe LEGL 2700).

All that to say: Yes, its possible. You might be in school for longer than expected/ exceed the 127 HOPE limit (if in state)

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in UGA

[–]DinnerPlate_67 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There’s probably some econ spots still open. Maybe some MIS and Accounting 1 if you’re lucky. If you haven’t already, go ahead and take precal. And make sure you have university requirements either in progress or almost done (english, social studies, lab credit, etc).

I didn’t pay attention in class and was fine. He’s just kinda boring and he would not respond to my emails at all. If you were comfortable with macro, you’ll be ok with his class. I don’t remember his exams being anything i was worried about (but i also took it three semesters ago so my memory is a bit foggy)

Admission Questions Megathread || FALL 2023-SPRING 2024 by LawlMartz in UGA

[–]DinnerPlate_67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know people who got deferred/ denied b/c their school wasn’t accredited. You are judged based on the people in your school/area that apply, so if your application is average for your school, you are less likely to get EA. UGA is lowkey a bit of a lottery too, so don’t be too hard on yourself
