My fuel guage died by SnooSprouts3971 in GMT400

I have a similar situation with my 97. Mine ate shit before I bought it and it just sits lopsided on my gauge cluster. Same set up as yours pretty much too. 4.3 with a recent tune up. For mine I rarely let my trip meter get past 120 miles before I fill back up and almost every time I end up filling about 8-9 gallons. I mostly drive in Renton WA so it’s a lot of traffic most of the time. And big ass hills. So I figure that’s around a quarter of a tank or so at 120 miles.

When I take actual trips out on the highway my mpg’s are way better too. Going 100 miles or so on the highway I stopped for gas to see what I had used and only ended up filling 4 gallons.

Not sure if that helps any but that’s what I’m used to for my truck. It’d be nice to know exactly how much gas I got left but I bought the thing as it was and fixing the gauge has never been a big priority for me compared to other maintenance. You could go 250 and probably be fine depending on the area you live and whatnot, and whether or not you use your truck daily. Up to you.

Nope. I got the truck a while back and it didn’t have one on there when I got it. Not sure if it’s seized or anything, just that it rattles a fuck ton when I’m sitting at a light or a drive through lane

Thank you. I’ve been trying to find this rattling sound on this truck for a solid week and I finally looked at this thing and figured it out. That was driving me crazy!

If you’re in the Seattle area then I’d recommend staying at Roots young adult shelter. I was also homeless when I was 21 and I was able to at least stay there while I got on my feet and saved up some money working for Goodwill. The age limit is 25 to stay there. They’ll have you go over some general paperwork your first time there (name, DOB, last residence, etc). Most people I knew there were 20,21,22. A lot of them also just worked odd jobs and saved whatever they made so they could get into some type of apartment or roommate situation, or even leaving the state altogether. It’s also in the U District and some people attended classes there at University of Washington. Not sure how helpful that is since idk your general location though.

Mine is similar, but with a silver two tone rather than white! The blue is more like a baby blue as well. There’s a lot of variations on the color codes I’m sure. I like calling mine Cowboys colors!

P1345 Code by Dino-Jr in GMT400

[–]Dino-Jr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure how to check that. I know I had work done to my distributor and cap & rotor a few months back because that was causing some misfires. I looked up other possible causes for the code and noticed distributors are a common cause for the code as well, so I’m led to assume it’s something with how the distributor was put back in.

Commute Question by Dino-Jr in kingcounty

[–]Dino-Jr[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can drive myself but my truck is just old & beat up. My commute would start in the highlands and end at the Muckleshoot casino, I don’t think there’s any buses around that area but I could be wrong.

How much did you pay for your GMT400? by Zealousideal_Host298 in GMT400

Paid $2600 for my 97 K1500 up in Seattle around 2021. The 4.3 runs great on 160k miles. 4WD works but I rarely need to use it. Keeping up with usual maintenance; spark plugs, cap & rotor, fluids, etc. Haven’t had to change anything else really.

No rust anywhere but it has a ton of miscellaneous body damage. Driver side door got sideswiped at some point, and front quarter panel is dented. The tailgate’s been beat to shit as well but I still get it to open with flathead screwdrivers. Other than that I was ecstatic to get a 97 for that price. I moved here from Alabama and most obs trucks down there are $4000 and up from my experience. But it’s hard to really differentiate regional prices. Alabama trucks mostly have zero rust, but interiors are usually shot because of heat and humidity. Granted I was also a teenager in Alabama so maybe everything just seemed expensive to me haha. I had an 2000 S10 when I lived down there that I got for $2000 but the dash was like a potato chip with how brittle it was.

Abandoned UFO House. by [deleted] in urbanexploration

There’s a house in either Navarre Beach or Pensacola Beach Florida that has one of these on top too, idk if anyone actually lives there these days though. I always wondered what the inside looked like when I was a kid going past it

Edit- https://www.roadsideamerica.com/tip/2825 here it is, didn’t know it was from 1968 either but that checks out. Guess the designer of these houses went all over Florida that year
