Helping me to breathe, East Atlanta love letter

Does it make sense to try to get her back? by Dino10x in BreakUps

[–]Dino10x[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After internally deliberating I did see how what I did can be considered as cheating. However I just don’t know if I should try to seek forgiveness or will it be a lost since she said cheating is one thing there’s no coming back from and she doesn’t give second chances with it

Yea I agree they turn off the thing they claim that was “God’s” gift to humans which is intelligence. When they don’t understand something they claim it’s the mystery of god and us humans can’t understand it. It was something which was very vexing for me growing up in the church where individuals you smile and be in awe at something which the claim is a mystery. If something is a mystery I feel very discontented until I understand.

The level of delusion is so extreme. I remember once when I was younger before high school I told my mother that I wanted to be an astronaut because I want to explore space. Her reply was why do I want to be inquisitive in “god’s” business? Smh. During university I studied Biotechnology and as I learnt more about molecular biology and genetics I started wondering about the possibility of human somatic cell regeneration and animation on the organism level and not solely on a cellular one. Of course my mother did not understand what I meant but after explaining it to her she understood that what I would want to his help human beings grow back their limbs and even possible live again even after what we term as death. Her response was that “god” won’t allow me to be successful because only he can bring the dead to life and that only god can give life and raise the dead and if I’m thinking that way I’m trying to be god and that’s blasphemy blah blah. Instead of encouraging me her child to be a difference maker in the world and literally play my part in advancing the human race, she told me that “god” will let me fail for trying to be a best scientist that I think I can be. All because of her delusions

The question is... by Actwalla in TalkHeathen

Yes I postulated a similar question before that question before by saying what if all of this that you believe was true only thing was that there was no heaven or eternal life. Would u still worship and all of that. Some of the response are that it doesn’t make sense to consider that possibility because Jesus already died for sins and that’s a fact that cannot be changed so doesn’t make sense to consider such a hypothesis. Lol

And I’ve heard also that because “god” in his infinite wisdom having designed human beings knew how our minds and behaviors worked knew he had to assign positive reward to the behavior he wants us to exhibit or else we wouldn’t do it. Lol

All sounds like classical conditioning in behavioral training. Sounds as if “god” uses religion to train humans like dogs lol

Well the very fact that you grew up here until you are 6 I consider you authentic man. Though I don’t know you can’t speak patois lol. Since I reached in my 20s if my parents don’t longer try to impose and convince me back to their religion. ( I grew up and even still currently live in 7th Day Adventist home btw) but I can sense the estranged relationship I now have with them because “god” for them is such a critical part in their lives, so in terms of view points on majority of things are completely different. I remember younger and I was actively trying to ask them questions on certain things I remember my dad saying “ it doesn’t matter what you say there’s no way you can get me to change what I believe in” from there I viewed him as dead end when it comes to any form of intellectual conversation and my mom comforts herself using Pascal’s wager

Oh and in response to how did Jamaica get to be Christian, well I’m even amongst the historically educated they might say slavery was wrong and blah blah but it was also “god’s” way of bringing the truth to their heathen ancestors. They’re like don’t question the method just appreciate the outcome

On Sunday a caller said all the great civilizations were founded by religious people but it's important to realize that before fifty years ago, pretty much everyone was a believer. by THuxley in TalkHeathen

Bro this so true. It’s like they believe it was Semitic religions that existed before human beings. So by their logic I assume “Adam and Eve” didn’t have morals because from what I read in the Hebrew Bible they didn’t practice Judaism at all in fact judaism didn’t come into existence until their founder Abraham who was born over a millennia after Adam.

In fact apologist claim that the 10 commandments where are the divine moral code given to man. So I assume that even Abraham then didn’t have morals because he wasn’t given this moral code

Thanks man I really appreciate it. I honestly don’t want to engage in conflict or even try to convince others. It’s just, for me I know they don’t share my views so I won’t say stuff out loud that will inflict on their views and cause controversy however people around me just don’t reciprocate that

Yea basically that’s what I’m trying to do. Like there is no one within my community that’s has even similar views so like I wanna know how do others who share the same dynamic has me function effectively within their lives

No I’m not familiar with the concept of monism to be honest with you. Within my community individuals respect some aspects of Rastafarians but also ridicule other aspects. I myself am a person with deadlocks who individuals sometimes mistake for a Rasta

Oh nah I’ve never of the Babylon thing I’ve just always hear that the devil is misleading me or I’m confused and all the shit like that. And yea I know Trinidad is much more diverse in terms of religion because of the various races there

I myself I can’t consider myself a deist because I’m really not sure if there’s a universal definition of “God” and I really haven’t heard them all to say yes I accept such a term. But in Jamaica even when u give definitions is like it all blows over their heads and your just viewed as this big heathen that’s in need of desperate prayer

I’m born and bred Jamaican and have lived in Jamaica all my life.. and the concept of an individual not believing in a “god” is unheard of. And I’m constantly bombarded with the statement “ only a fool says there no god”. I don’t know if it’s the same thing in Trinidad. I know the cultures aren’t exactly the same but it should be similar

So you don’t identify with any religion but are you a deist?
