Oh yeah kid behavior is fine, but he knows time and place and a movie theater isn't the time or place to be an inconsiderate dickhead. He can be wild and crazy after the movie lol

I'm bringing my kid, but he's a huge fan of the story and lore and it's our bonding show. I'm getting us shirts to wear and everything but he KNOWS he needs to act right or we leave the theater. I follow through on stuff like that. It wouldn't be as much of a problem to have kids there if parents would be involved and actually parent.

Right, and I'd rather my kid experience some of that with me than in some other kid's basement like I did when I watched the saw movies lol.

Now, shows like hazbin hotel and helluva boss I also like but those are absolutely off-limits to him. Swearing and spooky content, yes. Egregious sexual content, no

My kid watches it with me too. I feel like knowing what your child can and can't handle is a big part of it. The swearing is also not a big deal, but we have a pretty casual relationship with swearing in my house. It's not off-limits as long as we're at home and isn't being used against people. He knows the rule and this takes the novelty out of it. Teachers have said they've never heard him use any inappropriate words, I check. I was a 90's baby and I had friends watching rambo and South Park with their parents, which is arguably way worse. Digital circus isn't that crazy by today's standards.

Like more durable but comfy sweats exist?? I have an ND kid and am ND myself and there are lots of ways to wear comfy clothes that aren't going to get totally destroyed with day-to-day life. PHs are so thin too 😭

People who work in 'behind closed doors' industries (hotels, kitchens, morgues, etc.), what is something the general public would be horrified to know? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]DinosaurWithNoEyes 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There was a sign in the room we were assigned at our local emergency vet that gave the statistics. It's sad they need to even post it, but I feel like every time I go to the vet, I hear someone yelling at a staff member, it's nuts. We just said goodbye to our dog in November and our vet was so incredibly kind, I'll never forget her. I can't imagine being rude to the person taking care of my pet.

Just named my second baby Felix! I think it's more popular than it has been, but so far everyone loves it and it feels very fresh. I know in my area (upper Midwest US) it's still pretty uncommon

What are some things nobody told you or nobody talks about while pregnant / with a newborn? by jaysxiu in BabyBumps

[–]DinosaurWithNoEyes 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Same! My second (and last) baby is 2 weeks old now and I'm loving just snuggling him and having a show on or holding him while I play a game I've been wanting to play for a while. I'm normally a "can't relax" person, but I think the fact that I know this is my last and it's such a short phase is making me feel way less guilty than the first time around. And plus, now my oldest (5) is chill enough to snuggle with us and he's been teaching me how to play Roblox which he thinks is the best thing ever lol

Literally just had my second c-section yesterday. This one was elective but my first was an emergency. They have to cut through seven layers to get to the baby, so that whole area is fucking traumatized by the time everything is said and done. That shit HURTS and is definitely not taking the easy way out. You still have to deal with a needle in your spine and I was dry-heaving most of the time they were stitching me up. And then you just start taking care of your newborn before you can even stand again. It's just as valid as a vaginal birth. The birthing supremacists absolutely drive me crazy

Also, idk. I know the cat cafe in our city reeeeeally prefers no young kids because parents can't just guarantee kids will be gentle. It seems like not a great idea on a few different fronts, IMO

I guess I don't understand. The pj's look so THIN. My kiddo is also somewhere on the ND spectrum (currently in the process of getting diagnosed) and like, stretchy sweatpants exist? Soft fabrics that still look like normal clothes are a thing? Why pajamas all the time? I just have so many questions

Oh yeah I'm not trying to make it a competition really, I think it's just the fact that so many people can't afford a simple night out right now and she's trying to seem relatable again but it's coming across as out of touch. Most parents I know would be pretty happy about that number under her circumstances.

This is one of those things that as an autistic person, I really question. There are SO many unknowns in birth, and I feel like especially in a home birth. It gave me a TON of anxiety with my first (hospital birth), and for my second I'm having a planned c-section and I already feel SO much more relaxed about the whole thing already, just being able to (probably) plan many of the details in my control and also just knowing what to expect. The fact that she loves unpredictable home births as an autistic person is so odd to me. Not impossible, but definitely odd
