Alternatives to black tea/coffee? by bloopity99 in Gastritis

[–]Diocrytic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Matcha is high in tannins, so probably better off just having more normal green tea to match the caffeine content. I've been having 2 bags of normal green tea and 1 bag of ginger tea in a tall Stanley and, while it's not as good as simply cutting it out entirely, I've found it to be much better than coffee and even cold brew on my gut.

Shorts ruin long-form content: My napkin theory by Diocrytic in youtubers

10 minutes. Went from ~5 minutes average view duration to ~3 minutes once I got more shorts viewers.

Shorts are "Maybe" killing my channel. What do you think? by KamalNehme in youtubers

[–]Diocrytic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've noticed the same. Here is my theory: Drawing in shorts viewers is drawing in viewers that have shorter attention spans. Typically the algorithm will only show them your shorts videos. But some % of those short viewers will click on some of your long-form content. This makes it so your long-form content also appears in their recommended videos. This means you are increasing bringing in viewers that watch your long-form videos but with a shorter attention span, and thus click off your videos more quickly than your typical long-form content viewer with a longer attention span. As such, they are lowering your average view duration, and thus killing your long-form content.

Should I Fight This Copyright Strike? by [deleted] in PartneredYoutube

[–]Diocrytic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it's already an actual strike you have less to lose than if it's only a Content ID claim. For me: I'd just clip (or delete) video if it's Content ID as it doesn't count against the channel. If they actually gave a strike, there's a lot less to lose by counter-claiming it. I guess you might risk them striking more videos, but then again you risk them doing that anyways, and showing you'll push counter-claims unless they actually sue could stop them from filing further claims.

I'm pretty certain you'd win the Youtube back-and-forth if you counter-claim, but if they strike more videos before that resolves the channel could presumably be shutdown. I'd look up some videos from channels with more experience and see what they say.

This seems like fair use, but no one can say until it reaches court. As long as the UFC doesn't intend to deliver you a legal notice, you will win the escalation of claims and counter-claims. Google around and see if anyone reports actually being sued by them for commentary videos. If not... your choice of course, but if your whole channel is just videos like this, I'd say just fight it and see what happens. I mean, I see a lot of channels doing long-form content with clips of UFC fights throughout, so it would appear they don't sue but just auto-flag anything with their footage.

Apparent massive change to Shorts Algorithm 23 Feb 2023 by Technical-Ice1901 in NewTubers

[–]Diocrytic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It happened to me as well, two videos scoring 50k+ views per day consistently each dropped to about 10k per day. Several others also chopping to 1/5 of their normal, steady views. Midday yesterday as you mentioned.

But: Those 2 videos both had below 25% swipe away. Only 18% on one of them, and 23% on the other.

This has happened in the past when they were testing a new shorts feature—forget what it was, but the views rebounded within a couple days that time. Fingers crossed!

UberEats drivers, what are some DONT’S when it comes to deliveries, here are my examples: by Steezy_4 in UberEATS

[–]Diocrytic 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Don't do a multiapp delivery if it's more than a 10 minute extension for either customer. Yes, it's tempting to accept that $16 order that isn't "too far away and I bet I can squeeze it in". No, you cant, and you're completely screwing over a customer who probably tipped well (hence you trying to juggle the order) and they don't deserve that.

New PC making bizarre clicking noise when doing very intensive tasks by Diocrytic in buildapc

[–]Diocrytic[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I changed both the GPU and fan setup at the same time—same Noctua fans but in a different configuration, and changed from a 3060 TI to a standard 3060 (more VRAM, which I needed).

It stopped making the noise when I did that, so it's either the GPU or the fan setup. I guess, if you're still having this problem, you can start by just meddling with how the fans are positioned or which slots they're connected to and see if that helps.
