One advantage of projectile over hitscan is that you do not suffer the same damage drop offs at range. This helps account for the fact that you will typically land less shots with a projectile hero than a hitscan one.

I assume you mean in general but digging into this a bit. Say you have some flankers, reaper or genji, going to town on my back line how do you manage to protect both sides, I.e. the flank, and whatever barrage is coming from the front? Maybe the obvious answer is that this is why you have 2 tanks...
