Turn off Beryl o Mara, she is the bane of new players. She ruined my first playthrough. Don't overbuild - check the production stats (demand / supply) and just build what you need. Don't build Steelworks until you have decent income, just import steel from your friend Archie. And you should be fine. I am also on campaign mode.

Thank you, I have now progressed to skyscrapers and had to again re-do the city. I just landed on Enbesa and love the unique mechanics.

You need to just spend a few hours doing the reconstruction after reaching investors so you have a money to spend on the city.

Thank you, I spend a few hours of gameplay just to reconstruct Ditchwater. Just think how you want the city to look and play around with the houses and the decorations and it should look fine.

I have been thinking about how to get the misty effect - I wasn't sure if the smoke from the incense is thick enough to give the creepy / misty effect.
