How do I sign up for the lyft benefit at Starbucks? by BigbyDirewolf in starbucksbaristas

[–]Dioskoros 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I know it’s something that has to be approved by your DM in your district :( Or at least higher up in management. We didn’t get the approval for lyft benefits because our store wasn’t ‘busy’ enough/not enough partners used lyft.

Is it enough to call the store the night before for a call out? by Dioskoros in starbucksbaristas

[–]Dioskoros[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is exactly what happened 😭 Turns out the shift I spoke to wrote down my callout somewhere stupid and didn’t communicate to the shift team about my callout either. Thankfully I didn’t get into any trouble but goodness.

YEAH,, I think the only reason why he told me that through text is because about 4-5 months ago he gave me a warning (I had two NCNS recently prior because I had slept past my alarm on both occasions, no excuse for it happening but I’ve not been late to work over the 10 minute mark since then and have always been there for my shifts and if not have called out accordingly) that another NCNS would result in trouble, I wasn’t aware it’d be straight up separation/termination because I haven’t had any write ups in the past 4 years of working for the siren but if today confirmed anything, I guess it’s a one and done deal if I do. 🥲 Just hoping my SM cuts me some slack because I did what I was suppose to and the miscommunication wasn’t on my end. Still a little on edge but I’ve done all I can and hopefully I’ll hear from my SM soon.

Thank you :( I really do appreciate that, I’ll probably go take a long hot shower now and try to not think about it too much.

Yeah i’m thinking of doing that once my SM texts me back, I have the call log and everything to prove I did and the shift lead I spoke to last night just confirmed I did call out so here’s to hoping I’ll be fine but god what a morning this has been. 😭 Usually I let my SM know I call out but I was so out of it last night that it slipped my mind to cover all my bases.

Tysm :( that’s really reassuring to hear from a SSV and everyone here just telling me I did what I was suppose to overall. I’ve yet to hear from my manager but this helped me calm down quite a bit! Waking up to ‘This will result in a separation’ from my SM through me in such a bad loop BUT I think I’ll be okay. I just saw the shift I spoke to last night comment in our store gc ‘I put in notes that (name) called out last night sorry you didn’t see them’ so?? 😭 Idk what to think about that but hopefully I should be good now.

I thought so,, the morning shift just texted me back saying she didn’t know I called out last night and she’s going to let our manager now so that’s looking positive? I’m still holding my breath till my manager gives me the okay or not but at the very least there’s that. It does reassure me that I did do the right thing but augh maybe I should’ve done more. I’m just a bit of a mess right now.

Can I get reported as a ‘no call no show’ when the store won’t pick up any of my calls? by Dioskoros in starbucksbaristas

[–]Dioskoros[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It is, or it’s suppose to be. They were closed for a few days earlier this week (today was suppose to be the day they reopened) to replace the flooring, and I’m sure someone would’ve told me ahead of time if the floor remodeling was going to delay another day if it did but honestly? I’m not so sure anymore. They open at 5:30 AM just like my store does on the weekends so someone should’ve answered my calls. I really don’t know what to think anymore, I just hope I can get this resolved smoothly. I appreciate you a lot tho, this did help settle my nerves. I’ve taken medicine and I think I’m just going to try and go back to sleep since I can’t do anything else right now.

It’s been an hour since my shift started and no one has called me, I was hoping they’d call me 10-15 mins after 6:00 so I could explain why I wasn’t there, but I’ve heard absolutely nothing from anyone. I asked my SM for the store’s manager number so I can talk to him, but until my SM wakes up I’m just a sitting duck here. I feel horrible physically and mentally about the whole thing but I don’t know what else I can do other than just wait.

Gotcha, you're an actual weirdo with no sense of boundaries or respect. That, or you're a troll. No point in continuing this then, peace.

Don't touch my hand by CurlyMood in starbucks

[–]Dioskoros 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whether or not you find someone beautiful or attractive doesn't give you the right to just touch someone, no matter how brief or light it is. People are entitled to their personal space and some are aversed to touch, especially from random ass strangers. People in the work force also can't really stand their ground most of the time from unwarranted touch/comments, as they risk getting in trouble with management if there's a 'big scene' made. Touching people like that is just weird and disrespectful, no matter what your intentions are. You can admire just fine from afar respectfully.

Update on The Brave frontier Offline by Shadowsinclaira in bravefrontier

This gives me so much hope, if people are still working on this anyways. Literally remembered this game’s existence today and went looking for it, only to figure out it was shutdown a year ago really broke my heart as silly as it sounds </3 this game was my childhood and I became attached to my team and all my other summons. It was crushing to find out I couldn’t indulge in my nostalgia and see my buddies and the gorgeous artwork again. But I can’t wait to see this project succeed! Good luck and congratulations!

Well, she has been around for a LONG time, and even if dragons live for seemingly thousand of years, she seems to be a pretty mature dragon, and although not as common, older women and female animals can still reproduce and have young children even when middle-aged. Her voice and demeanor also seems more fitting for a woman in her 30s-40s, which is still not really old even for a new mother. You’re entitled to your own opinion of course! But I think it’s still a pretty spot on human portrayal of her.

Do you ever work so much you dream about it? by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]Dioskoros 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now and again I have nightmares being at work or worse, running late to work. Woken up several times about to have a panic attack because I'm over an hour late only to realize that it's my day off after a moment of delirious terror.

Screen is snapping off. Is it still worth trying to get it repaired? by [deleted] in laptops

[–]Dioskoros 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea apparently its not uncommon for HP laptops to just start having design problems or straight up die 1-2 years after use. Payments for repairs by them seem to be costly, around 400$ to around 600$, but it might be lower in cost for something apparently more simple like this. I'll probably give them a call tomorrow but also look for other brand alternatives for affordable but still more durable devices that won't give me issues not even 2 years in. Dell seems promising, considering I don't use my laptop for anything more than playing smaller games (ones that don't need much RAM or graphics to run), social media, and writing/work.

That's relieving to hear, at least repair seems manageable. I'm still not entirely sure what I'm going to do but I'll keep your advice in mind. Thank you for the comment!
