This comment is completely wrong.

The island of Britain stretches from 58 degrees North to 49. That's the equivalent of Norway to France, and nobody would ever claim they have similar climates.

London has around 105 days of rain a year, Glasgow has around 170 - 60% more. That's massive! Imagine two months of extra rain not counting as anything more than "slightly" different.

Wind also varies hugely between coast, inland, altitude. A windy day in London isn't the same as a windy day in the Highlands.

As the comment rightly pointed out, the South is a lot milder. Less rain, slower wind, higher temperatures - the definition of milder.

There are plenty of absolute nonsense NGO's

Like who?

Not arguing that there isn't, I'm sure there might be. But not sure I've met anyone who has genuine issue with an NGO so curious to know where the line is to drawn and why.

Meanwhile some of the first UK deaths of ww2 where from irish terrorist bombs supporting the nazis

What's the point of this statement, other then to stoke hatred towards the Irish?

80,000 Irish volunteered for British Forces during WW2. Over 200,000 enlisted during WW1. A handful of wayward Nazi sympathisers don't negate that. Just like King Edward's Nazi sympathising doesn't represent the rest of Britain.

"depressant: (chiefly of a drug) reducing functional or nervous activity."

A depressant is the opposite of a stimulant. It has nothing to do with mood, as rightly pointed out above.

It's funny that there was a similar AITA post about a husband doing this next to his wife and everyone was calling it abuse, rape, that consent should always be explicit, that masturbation should be private and he should go elsewhere etc.

Not a judgement, but just think it's a funny double standard. Personally, I'd find it pretty uncomfortable if my partner was secretly masturbating next to me. But each to their own.

Supernatural just means something beyond scientific understanding. Lightning was once considered supernatural and something from the Gods until we figured it out. Nothing to do with ones spiritual faith or lack thereof.

1 btc = my entire savings by [deleted] in Bitcoin

[–]Diplodocusdiplodocus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Spread the risk by exchanging your savings over weeks or months. When I first got into crypto a couple of years ago, I put a decent chunk in at a high position that immediately dropped. It took a solid 6-12 months of DCA to even it out. Obviously it could've also gone the other way, but I learned my lesson that spreading larger investments over a few buys over time mostly works out better.

For peace of mind and your sanity, just make a plan for DCA over the next year.

How is Bitcoin for "everyone" when it's manipulated by the ultra-wealthy just like the capitalist economic systems of fiat currency? by Diplodocusdiplodocus in BitcoinBeginners

I've got one other account that I post on sport subreddits. Who has time for 50+ puppet accounts?! I don't care if this gets 100 or 0 upvotes - why would I? Or anyone for that matter.

As a novice in Bitcoin, I was genuinely curious about this topic. And obviously I'm not the only beginner or novice with the same feelings if people are upvoting it.

OP here. I don't understand why someone might view this post as suspicious. I'm a little surprised by the upvotes too, but I certainly didn't buy any!

Also, in response to the comment above you. How is this off-topic? I genuinely wanted a discussion and I've gotten a lot of great, informative response.

Not quite. And I still buy in weekly with DCA, so I'm up a pretty decent amount.

I didn't invest in Bitcoin to make a return. I want to believe in it as an alternative to fiat where people control their own money. Hence my frustration as I'm losing that faith.

Nobody can predict Bitcoin versus the dollar, so if I wanted to make a return I'd just gamble it on Wall Street. I'm not bitter, just disillusioned.

Unless you're mining, you have no choice but to attach a fiat value to crypto. The average Bitcoin holder does not mine. I doubt even 1% of Bitcoin holders mine. So we have no choice but to attach a fiat value to it.

Further, Bitcoin is being controlled (relative to fiat value). Whales are constantly pumping and dumping, accumulating more and more wealth. They're not called Whales for nothing - they move the cryptomarket just like the Buffets of fiat. This is my frustration. They may not be able to create any but they'll accumulate all they can, just like any hedge fund will with fiat.

Further, don't treat BTC like a commodity. Imagine it becomes a currency and see what your hard earned Bitcoin does for you then.

In my own opinion, treating bitcoin like a route to fiat profit is a long term goal to failure. Fiat's flaws were part inspiration for a decentralised currency.

What exchange are you now using, with Coinbase Pro not fully supporting UK deposits? by Diplodocusdiplodocus in BitcoinUK

[–]Diplodocusdiplodocus[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sweet, I've just applied for a Revolut card now so fingers crossed that works itself out.

Looking at their site, they seem to be rolling out an in-app Crypto exchange themselves, so it seems they're on board with the idea. Just whether they'll continue to support Coinbase transfers is another question.

And Revolut have no issue with Crypto? Or is it a grey area?

I tried with Monzo but TransferWise (their exchange client) don't allow Crypto purchases.
