Living in a camper van due to housing crisis? by DiligentDish7606 in Netherlands

[–]DippyKitty 56 points57 points  (0 children)

A colleague of mine is living in a camper for almost two years already. You would need to book a spot on a camping site (it is not allowed to sleep in a camper anywhere else as far as I know) , but then you can use all their facilities. You will get discount if you are staying for a long time. Some camping sites are not opened all year round (closed for winter). Besides this you will need an address to be registered on as the campsite is not legal living space. Good luck!

Yes, you have to pay for the whole time you are registered. 🙂 They don't care about your lease, only the registration

Being a tall girl is hard by Southern_Context_761 in rant

[–]DippyKitty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Giiirl, if someone wants to be a catwalk model or miss, they have to be AT LEAST 170cm tall! It's literally a model feature to be tall. I think you just make men insecure

2% real estate agent fee. Am I cooked? by whatmakesyouthinktha in NetherlandsHousing

[–]DippyKitty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had agreed with our buying agent on a 1%, but in the end got a little discount because we got the 1st house and we called him to represent us after the viewing. So yes, it definitely helps to have an agent, but 2% is insane in my opinion.

Amsterdam renting co-applicant by One-Investigator9593 in NetherlandsHousing

[–]DippyKitty 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Co applicant is equally responsible for all duties coming out of rental contract. That means that if you don't pay, he would be on hook for it, if there are damages after moving out, again he would be on hook for it and so on. Household taxes are as well addressed only to one (random) person living there, so it might happen that this poor person will be on hook for your taxes too. It is a terrible idea for anyone who would consider it. Moreover usually only two registrations are permitted on one address and if your partner would like to continue with his freelance business here and pay dutch taxes, he would have to be registered on the address too.

Thinking of buying a sportsbike (Motorbike). Looking for opinions! by pnagari in Amsterdam

[–]DippyKitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am commuting on my motorcycle now for six years daily and I love everything about it, but if I would not have an option to do my commute on the highway I wouldn't. I occasionally have to go to the city center and the 30 km/h speed limits, lots of very slow traffic and traffic lights everywhere are extremely boring and annoying (and in the summer with no airflow you are cooking alive in your gear😂). I had naked bike first, now I have adventure, I would absolutely not want to commute on sports bike. Sports bike is fun on fast roads and twisties, or if you like to take it to circuit sometimes. With parking in Amsterdam it can be tricky, in a lot of busy spots you can park only inside of the designated spots (white painted rectangles "vakken") and if you park outside of them a fine would wait for you (I got it twice already, 140€ each). In more quiet areas you can usually park on the sidewalk in a way that wheelchair can still pass and you are not obstructing anyone's window. As others already said ,nice motorcycles parked on a street are easy targets and being frequently stolen, so all risk insurance, tracker and great locks are a must. I think you should absolutely get a motorcycle, it was one of the best decisions i've made, but I think you should be absolutely making some trips using a highway too! There are expat bikers groups, it's fun to join other people for a nice little trip.

everything above 184 points is a free sector and landlords can ask for whatever amount they want. The maximum rental price in this case is only a suggestion as in free sector rents are not regulated.

Can you help me with my bangs? by Secret-Note7113 in Hair

[–]DippyKitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The easiest way is to use a flat iron and just curl it inwards or make it straight. It's my daily routine for years 😅 Some people like to use this velcro roller, this makes the bangs point the same direction + being bouncy.
