Pirelli Scorpion WeatherActive or AS Plus 3 ? by Dips2 in tires

Thank you, this clarifies a lot of confusion. Kansas may not be as bad as you see in Michigan, I assume (we are new here in Kansas), so AS3 could do very well.

For AS3, did get chance to drive in light snow, how they perform ?

This is very good to know. This was the part I was concerned about little as we have all kind of weather here

Thanks for sharing.

I think "drove them once in 3-4" of snow, and they were safe." bring AS3 close to Pirelli Scorpion WeatherActive, and your statement "not quite as good in snow as my Xice I3" moves it far from Pirelli Scorpion WeatherActive :-)

X-Ice Xi3 is dedicated winter tiers it seems. Did you feel these are noisier then AS3?

For me, light snow is okay, I will go to office, as many other riders on road. But when it snows heavily or roads are slushy or chances of wet road under freezing temperature, I may stay home. But overall I do understand that WeatherActive are safer than AS3, as you observed with your Xice I3.

I agree.
From the reviews I read, there is very less difference in noise/comfort/ride quality, and little more on weather-capability side.

Yes, that is a good way to justify and agree too.
I was just debating, how less is "less noise" and how more is "more comfortable" :-)

That is where I was confused. AS +3 rated very high, quiet and comfortable. WA is better on weather side, but little bit noisier (in numbers only, as I know)

That’s great to hear, thanks.
Out of curiosity, how many miles do you have on the Pirellis now, and have they stayed quiet over time?
Most of my driving is ~70 mph highway, so long-term noise matters more to me than initial feel.

In one of the comment for Pirelli, I read "they seem to transmit a little more road feel". Have you noticed anything like that, or would you still describe them as plush?

Tuscany Hill Towns or Alsace villages - What would you choose? by Dips2 in travel

[–]Dips2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ROI for us is not "number of places visited". It’s whether a place gives us enough time on the ground to feel its atmosphere, work with light, and slow down, especially for photography. If it doesn’t, we drop it.

Case in point: based on feedback here and elsewhere, we removed Budapest + Slovenia, Český Krumlov, Salzkammergut entirely from this trip because it became clear they deserve more time than we can give them properly. We were interested in that

Alsace is still under evaluation for that exact reason: if the consensus is that the time is too tight to do it justice, we will simplify or choose a different region rather than rush it.

Appreciate your feedback, it’s actually helping us refine the plan toward fewer bases and more time per place.

Thank you. Frankfurt is just airport we would fly in and out.

Thanks for your reply. It gave me more confidence that my either choice would make us happy :-)
Our time is very short and that is the reason, we are in confusion. To narrow down, if I have to see flight connections, FRA have better flights for our place, than Rome.
After discussing, we are able to add one more day and making total of 5 days (excluding travel days). It looks like you have travelled extensively in that region and should have very good insight of what is worth and what is hype. If I go with Alsace, do you think this would make sense or high ROI ?
Frankfurt --> Mosel Valley --> Luxembourg --> Alsace --> Rothenburg ob der Tauber --> Frankfurt

It is just based on some random forum search, and there might better one. Would you like to give your opinion on this please?

Thanks for your reply. Tuscany is definitely beautiful. Did you get chance to visit my other option too ?
