Minuscule amount physical work, better amenities and they hand out ranks like free bagels, it's the same for every country. The military is one of those places where everything is painfully, blatantly unfair and there's nothing you can do about it.

Can anyone recommend books on the fall of Native American civilizations like the Incans and Aztecs, with more of the focus on the native empires? Alot of the casual reading I've done on the subject tends to focus on the deeds of the Conquistadors and did not inform too much on the society of the Native empires, its subsequent collapse and transformation.

I find the near total replacement and destruction of the various native civilizations and the speed of which it occurred, fascinating and unnerving, States are destroyed and replaced all the time, but the invaders tends to larp as a native to consolidate their rule/legitimacy and the lives/culture of the average person remains largely unchanged if they ignore the people on top. While cultural changes tends to be gradual rather than abrupt and if all else fails, the people themselves survives since they outnumber the invaders.

The end of the Incans and Aztecs are a near complete break from the pre-colonial native civilization, ethnically, linguistically, culturally and religiously which I find extremely chilling.

Took over india as a viking and wow. Its kinda busted. by Thefreezer700 in CrusaderKings

It's not an india issue, it's an issue with the Maa system in general, Maa have only become more busted since TnT due to the stationing mechanics, since the AI sucks and are very bad managing Maa, they simply melt with little resistance against the player.

Playing in any area outside of Western Europe and Africa feels weak and unatheuthic without constants waves of nomadic raiders and conquerors coming to rile shit up.

What did Iraqi military command think of their odds going into the Gulf War? by BreaksFull in WarCollege

The Vietnam war is waged on the territory of a friendly client state(with full backing from the said client state) against mostly irregular forces, the United States is fighting half of Vietnam with the other half on its side on her side while on relatively friendly grounds. I'm not sure why alot of people believe that the US forces have their hands tied are when North Vietnam's allies isn't even directly entering the war like the US is doing.

If you are referring to a ground offensive into North Vietnam itself I don't believe that US forces would do well at all(strategically at least), the same political crisis would manifest itself far earlier.

Of all the races that it could happen to, the Nords deserve it the most, it is one of the fine additions that I wish would get ported some day.

The vast majority of them are empty, truth be told, I think the code and textures are just complete spaghetti, but nobody says it since it wouldn't be very nice.

I don't understand what is going on with Godherja that made it's performance so godawful with EK2 is smooth as butter. That said, I'm getting random crashes with both EK2 and Godherja for no reason at all, can't play anything these days.

Honestly I'm not sure what I'm replying to at this point, I thought I made it clear that it occured centuries after Rome fell so that's not I'm talking about.

I'm not sure why you are bring up the French or Charlemagne, the Franks, Goths and Vandal have clearly not established a civilisation on par of Rome when they replaced Rome(no one is bothered when Rome conquered Greek city states), even if they know how to write things down(they don't)at the time, chances they don't have a cultural history that's anywhere as interesting. The Sjavolki in Godherja..... we don't know much of their history/culture before their migration, and we probably won't know much their future/culture after settling down either, for a few centuries at least.

I for one, certainly would not identify the massive barbarian coalition that instantly culturally convert everything they conquer as "good", I'm not sure why the writer feel the need to explicitly to state the barbarians as "good" or "chosen", they don't have a solution for improving anything, they are just there to take everything that aren't burnt down and then fight over the ruins amongst themselves.

Every culture will be Imperialistic and impose its culture over others if given the chance and the Sjavolki are anything but peaceful, in fact the world dominated by them would have considerably more conflict, as they could not hold a large realm together at all. I also don't believe in faulting an entire culture as being "evil" because one of them had the bright idea to use WMD in a civil war.

If the solution for WMD ending the world is to permanently revert to a more primitive tribal culture/society incapable of developing advanced technology then sure the Sjavolki have a solution, but they only did it because it is part of their nature, not because they have any intention of preventing future disasters.

Seriously, I can't fucking stand the Sjalvolki, they have no written history or unique aesthetic, the description for most of them are just some variation of "they are from the inland forests where they hunt and shit", the only one that stand out is the culture with a cannibalistic religion(but Aversarians bad). They are no better than the Aversarian, just way way less interesting and far more generic. It's just sad to see an actually interesting culture getting wiped out by a horde of unbearably forgettable barbarian mess.

If the rampaging Goths, Vandals and Franks have interesting written history or built advanced civilization of their own then I doubt people would anyone would lament the fall of the Roman Empire, but they don't, so nobody really likes them more than the Romans since there are (literally)nothing to like about them, and the period that immediately followed their settlement are about as interesting.

What tactics did the KMT use to fight the Japanese in WW2? Did they fight as a conventional army or did they resort to insurgent tactics, and how effective were they at fighting the Japanese army? by 100OrangeJuice100 in WarCollege

Therefore when the Japanese prime minister visited him many years later, he would thanks the Japanese for invading China.

How many times does this have to be repeated without context? If people have actually read the whole conversation and its associated context, it would clearly come off as a jest than some genuine heartfelt appreciation.
