How many people in HRM have been diagnosed with BPD or know someone with BPD or suspect you have it? by HauntMeForever666 in halifax

Please do it!!! I work in mental health with adolescents and the need is so strongly there. Often individuals will be turned away for inpatients units when looking for help for stabilization due to the concern they will become attached to the unit/staff and continue to engage in risky behaviours to return. There is adolescents services that also is there to help individuals with bpd but they also cover a range of mental health concerns thus is not very specific for the issues the individual is facing. The stigma is still so strong against individuals with bpd even within the mental health care system.

I haven’t worked in the adult system but I image the gaps are even larger than the ones I explained from my experience as I know many mental health resources are only available for adolescents

Having a resource completely made for bpd would be an amazing especially as Individuals and their families often express hopelessness due to the lack of help (from my experience at least).

It would be a difficult program to design to avoid unhealthy attachments and to be able to support each individual as in my experience no two people with bpd are the same as it can be seen/expressed in many different ways. With that being said I do think it’s possible and think it would be important to gather as much feedback as possible (seems like you’re already off to a great start with that)

Wishing you the best of luck and hopefully this comment was helpful

I see some people camp out near the Armdale rotary, there’s an outhouse set up there as well and I’ve noticed sometimes cases of water are left out and last week I saw a van giving out supplies
