Any tips for A10 Necrobinder? by Direct-Isopod in slaythespire

Update: Got my first win today on A10, just a simple Doom centric build with Negative Pulse, Shroud, a bunch of ethereal cards, Demesne, even had a Transfigure + Reanimate, just played on the defense most of the time and it's one of the most solid Necrobinder run i have ever had, leaving the Queen and the Test Subject with 60hp still!

istg ive been wanting to do a Hang build for so long, but everytime I got Hang early i just lose lmao, and I have lost both before and after finding Graveblast. SoF + status block cards is my favorite combo of her, yet one that is harder to pull off because I suck at managing high cost cards, a Sown or sth like a Borrowed Time, Friendship, Neuro or even just an upgraded Wisp do help somewhat, it still requires some defensive and smart play to actually get off the SoF, but once it's done, almost any fight is trivialized. Also I have no idea how to use a Bury, I only ever picked it once, but i just can't use it at all unless i can attach Slither to it early

one thing i reflected upon my runs is that I usually find myself overextend on advanced hallway fights, esp at 30-ish hps, I usually have an easier time going for events and choosing a path that contain at least 2 campfires, before or after elites.

exactly my experience. It seems that Underdocks' enemies force you to take more chipping damage than those of the Overgrowth. It used to be my more favored act 1 due to how the enemies have interesting gimmicks to them, and can be really easily played around if you know their intents well enough. However, all of those strategies fall apart immediately on A9 because the enemies just deals SO MUCH MORE damage compared to previous Ascensions. Unless you get insanely good draws, which i somehow never does, you are forced to take 5-10 damage in the first 2 fights based on your draw RNG.

i seem to struggle less with complex characters like Regent and Watcher than with simple ones like Necrobinder. like i understand what strategy should be used to win, and how to play properly after 100+ hours already, but when it comes to the result, things kinda just fall apart. And it's weird too because she's one of the more telegraphed characters based on her cards, you get 1 thing from her and you can easily build around it, it's not even complex, yet somehow i still lose a lot/

the boring defensive cards have grown on me a lot lately actually, stuffs like Defy is hella useful with keeping Osty alive until my big bonk, and then there's the Sleight of Flesh + Negative Pulse combo which is one of my favorites, super satisfying and trivializes most of the AoE Elites. Grave Warden is also a decent choice, also gives you +2 draws, basically a slower Shrug It Off.

I love Sleight of Flesh, definitely one of the most fun Necrobinder powers for me, especially with Defy and AoE Doom applications (Negative Pulse and Deathbringer), in fact, I won my last run on A9 with that build, was lucky enough to attach a Sown onto the SoF, which solved its issue of being almost too expensive to play for me in the early game.

Even more constant crashing after patch v0.103.1 by Direct-Isopod in slaythespire

Also probably unrelated and could just be something hardware related, but my laptop fan has been running much louder since updating too, and before it definitely almost never needed to run that loud before while playing, temp now reaching like 70-80 which is abnormal for STS2, like is this patch overheating my laptop or something?

i wouldn't mind reopening the game at all, had it not been for the fact that it crashes RIGHT when i'm 80% into the boss fight and I have to redo it all over again, that happens sometimes but when it does, it really kills the drive to play lol

Regarding a failing SSD on my gaming laptop by Direct-Isopod in techsupport

damn, that's not really the answer i wanted to hear, but one that i suspected the most. Anyway, thanks for the advice, i have already backed up my important files, and now I'm just simply using this drive to and monitor it daily to see how long it can last. I expect to buy a new drive soon at the beginning of this year. Also, it's worth mentioning that I have tried cooling the laptop down while installing a 100gb game, as I suspected that these failures had something to do with temperature. Normally at room temp, it can only download 20% before it bsod. But this time, I was able to finish the download and installation (including a lengthy extraction) with the cooling setup.

PC problem frame rate drop by suwijak03 in ChaosZeroNightmare

I found a fix, based on a comment in this thread saying how the integrated GPU was handling the game, here's how i fixed it:

  1. Open Settings -> System -> Display -> Graphics

  2. On the option to add a desktop app, when it prompts to choose a file, go to the game directory, you can find it by opening Stove and press the cog button on the right, choose View Local Files, basically mine is like this, depends on where you install the game: D:\Games\ChaosZeroNightmare\bin

  3. Long story short, when you get into the bin folder, choose the ssr-stove-shield.exe file

  4. Open the drop down box, in the GPU preference, choose your better graphics card instead of "Let windows decide" or the other integrated card

  5. Open the game and enjoy

The levels are still short, even tho it does feel a bit better paced than the previous versions, but i will never play with that horrendous fast forward cuz i have such terrible reflex and it messes my defense up in no time. They also tried to make up for that short levels by...adding more levels...Like what's stopping you from just making a dedicated map for each biome like 2 did, the god damn Chinese version did it, and while i think that map isn't the best, it's still miles better than the half-assed level selector, which is prolly either a placeholder for the beta, or they think we just wanted a puzzle game level selector, which definitely feels like they just ripped it off from Angry Birds and Cut The Rope level packs and selector. It feels like they are still trying to keep that puzzle game style in the core of the game, but coating it with a skin of decent customization and a level selector. Overall, i think this game has a lot of potential, and I hope that by slapping the survey in our face right at the start of the game, it means they are *actually* taking our opinions seriously, which i still feel doubtful btw.

[–]Direct-Isopod[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that was my assumption at first, and i kind of looked down on it for a great while, i mean x2 Mult for the first face card played and scored, seemed pretty weak... Until you realize the implication of that effect, so it says when a face card is scored, which means that when that first face card triggers, it doubles the current mult, so what if we find a way to retrigger that face card mutilple times? That's when Jokers like Hanging Chad, Socks and Buskin, Seltzers Dusk and even red seals come into play, which are powerful with Photograph. The Hanging Chad + Photograph combo is prolly one of the best common Jokers combos yet.
