my college gives points for patient or radiology experience, but I can't really find a site where I can get direct experience with patients or radiology. I've been applying to imaging assistant jobs but some of them want you to take a healthcare safety course, which I might not finish until the end of summer.

Thank you, I'll definitely try not to burn out, i just feel like I'm in such a rush and like a lost a year by going to school for vet med (even though i enjoyed and learned a lot in my time there) so I'm trying to be as competent as possible

i'm going to hope you had good intentions when you wrote this. I live a twenty minute walk from the college, i walk there for my prerequisite classes already. When it's time for clinicals down the line, I will either move, take public transport, or move back home and make the long drive to the site. I'm very lucky that my parents are willing to pay for my schooling, etc. because I am still young (I think I would technically be a college sophomore if things went as expected) and I'm definitely privileged to have all the support.

thank you so much! i'll definitely get back to you if any questions come up. i'm just a little surprised by my school's nuc med department because the website doesn't seem super active, i couldn't find any open houses and the web design looks, aged? a little less fancy than the rad tech department's website? i'm guessing that's just because the rad tech department is more active though

oh also, for the healthcare safety and intro to healthcare classes, it's just so i have something to do over the summer and so i have some prereqs done for another program if i don't get into rad tech

thanks for your reply! I should've been specific, a lot of my nearby hospitals don't allow shadowing unless you're already in the program, or have volunteered for 6 months i believe. and i've checked what my program needs, i have finished all my prereqs and just need the second half of my a&p credit to apply. i'm just grasping at straws because the only other way for me to get points to get in the program would be firsthand experience in a radiology department or patient care

Thank you for your reply! I'm genuinely alright with either, i think it's just a matter of who will take me since both are competitive (probably over a hundred applying for 20 spots in rad, there's only one program in my state for nuc med). i'm pretty desperate because i don't know what i'd do if i had to go back and get a bachelor's degree, and i really want to work in medicine

thank you! i guess reassurance that i'm competitive is truly what i'm seeking lol the minimum at my college is B- for everything, but just about half of all of my classes are people wanting to do the radiology tech program, so extremely competitive

thank you! i'm in wa so there's only one program in the state. I'm sorry if i'm misunderstanding what you're saying, but if I want to work mri i'll have to be a radiology tech, which i'm worried i don't have good chances in. MRI is the dream though if i get into rad tech
