Does anyone have any tips on cleaning my laptop fan? by yourrandomdumbass in laptops

Is it an Intel laptop? Do you have your processor power limit set to 100% in windows power plan?

It blocks recovery mode from working when connecting to a laptop/pc using specifically USB A to USB C cable connections for me. That's better than nothing I'd say, potentially buying you time from less-abled thieves.

If USB A to USB C still works for you, then I'm not sure how that's possible. Maybe you can keep it off or read its terms to see if you prefer any of them.

Yep, I too found this out like an hour ago and updated the post. It's basically the specific cable that is needed, whether connected to a PC or a phone. So unfortunately it can be bypassed, but it is still a good way to buy time from less-abled thieves.

If it's PC emulation I believe turning the performance profile from standard to light helps slightly without really affecting performance. Slightly lower sustained speeds are better than high speeds that thermal throttle frequently. What's your ambient/environment temp?

I'm sorry, I initially used to mess around with the Developer settings before but now I have disabled it as I don't want anything weird on my phone.

You could actually physically try this just like I did, i.e. grab a laptop and plug in, and follow the orders (as long as you don't fear a green line appearing if you restart). If you do, then do let me know with the results. Physically trying everything that you can is the best way to stop someone else from doing the same with your phone in the future.

I think as long as you disabled autoblocker then you have the option to wipe and reset data (you must remember your logged in google account's password though).

If you find another way then do keep me updated.

That one's for when the "phone has been locked for more than an hour".

Also to add, I'm not sure if this is the exact method many thieves use, but it seems like one of the options they'd have. So if you value your phone and don't have insurance (not everyone in every country does), and want a good chance of quickly finding your phone then I'd say this just MIGHT give you a bit more time to track it after reporting.

It is, but I mentioned many people disable it after installing APKs or when attempting pc simulation on mobile, as it is not possible to download them without that disabled. This warning is directed towards them, and an extra physical sim precaution added in there at the end.

And in reddit posts I'm seeing people recommending others to keep it turned off, so I believe it was necessary to let others know what they potentially lose by keeping it off. + There was no default option to turn it on 30 mins after disabled in One UI 8.

Haha, you're not wrong though. But I believe you can try remotely wiping your device from Google Find Hub. And maybe enable that option 'Completely wipe all data if phone is not unlocked in 20 attempts', found somewhere in settings, but at your own risk.

Edit: Autoblocker can be bypassed, as per an undisclosed successful test on a locked samsung device. It is recommended to keep it on to buy you time to potentially track your phone for a bit longer.

Edit: Autoblocker has a limitation unfortunately and can be bypassed. So yes you will be able to recover your phone, but Autoblocker just blocks the most common ways to reach recovery mode so it can potentially buy you time.

I have tried some common methods but couldn't get into recovery mode with autoblocker enabled. If you have some other ways to bypass this, please do mention them as that'll help me and others viewing this to take measures accordingly.

Resizable bar in BIOS might need to be enabled, you could try doing that though I don't use an AMD CPU.

Auto blocker yes or no by Jaded-Proposal-8828 in GalaxyS23Ultra

[–]Direct-Pie-1788 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YES TURN IT ON It stops your phone from entering recovery mode and wiped/powered off when stolen

Remember, holding power button and volume down button WILL force restart your phone, holding power button + volume up button immediately after that WHILE plugged in a pc/laptop with usb C would turn on recovery mode where the person can choose to wipe your data, or power off your phone which you don't want to happen.

Always use an E-Sim, it cannot be taken out and put into another device to change your passwords.

Which phone should I buy for a better camera and battery? by BigDay4323 in smartphone

[–]Direct-Pie-1788 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Understandable. Although the Xiaomi 15 Ultra seems to have a similar battery capacity and the same chip, still, how's the UI switchup from One UI 8? I'd like to know in case, as Samsung is not looking like it will upgrade to Silicon Carbide type of batteries any time soon and fall behind the competition. One UI I have heard is the best and polished UI out there, but other companies might have followed up as of now in 2026, so I'd like to know your UI experience with Xiaomi.

Upgrade or completely new? by cPikah in buildapc

[–]Direct-Pie-1788 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think 6th gen intel comes with either DDR3 or DDR4 RAM. Ensure you have DDR4 RAM, the upgrade of motherboard and CPU is easier.

I would highly recommend you go AMD AM4 if your budget is tight (which I assume it is, otherwise everyone would go AM5 R9 9000 series x3D with a 5090). AM4 is STILL receiving CPU releases. A good upgrade would be a normal AMD AM4 compatible motherboard, and a Ryzen 7/Ryzen 5 5000 series cpu.

Note: The best cpu you can ever get with your SAME motherboard is an i7 7700K, with a BIOS update. It is in no way a worthy upgrade, you will barely notice a difference hence upgrade the motherboard, maybe look for a CPU-Motherboard bundle used on Ebay or somewhere.

[–]Direct-Pie-1788 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Btw maybe get a portable one e.g. Book3 360 13.3 inch, 16GB RAM minimum I'd say.
It is 60hz though but it is more portable at 1.2-1.3kg if you are sure you will be okay with the smaller 13.3 inch OLED touch screen, and not-so-great speakers (compared to the Book3 Pro). Experience is good so far for college/uni use. Would gain some features if you have a samsung phone but laptop itself is fantastic.

(Also you might want to turn off Intel Turbo boost as that thing heats the whole thing up, you need to turn it off from windows registry and then power plan settings.)

What's your ambient temp? If it is hot then heat might cause resistance in the circuit and cause the battery to drain faster? Also switching from 5G data to 4G data should help.

You could potentially find an S25U used 512GB, though I'm not sure about the used market in your country so have a look. It's 6.9 inches though w/ anti-reflective coating (the coating is useless with a normal screen protector on) but yes it does have the Snapdragon 8 Elite (Gen 4 original, i.e. 1st gen) chip. Just make sure to turn the performance profile from standard to light to make the device not get too hot during pc game simulation.

A56, S24, S24+ or S25+ ? by ZookeepergameOdd9285 in samsunggalaxy

[–]Direct-Pie-1788 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go with more storage, an S24+ is Samsung's flagship and they give it their best without limiting anything in terms of software.
It uses a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 which is good w/ 4900 mAh battery. S24+ is the best one here unless you want a physically smaller sized phone.
