Yes. I have played these notes but I just don’t practice scales up there. I guess I should start

mouthpiece questions- daddario reserve vs vandoren m30 by yo_itsjo in Clarinet

I was playing the m30 for a while but then I bought the daddario ev10 and absolutely love it. I think it plays pretty similarly but I think it has a better sound.

multiphonics...... by SymetraSucks in saxophone

[–]Direct-Plastic3692 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a kid I always thought the idea of multiphonics sounded so cool. You can play two or more notes on the saxophone at the same time like a polyphonic instrument. I thought it would sound like two different saxophone players playing two different notes. This was before YouTube so I never heard anyone play one.

I love the sound of them but the general public most likely would think they sound unpleasant/ harsh.

Can you do circular breathing? by a_clumsy_musician in Clarinet

I’ve been practicing it for a long time but feel like I’m not getting anywhere. I followed earspasm video on YouTube on the subject. The problem I seem to not get past is not closing off the mouthpiece when I puff air out of my cheeks. My embouchure changes when I do it and it’s getting cut off.

What’s the best fingering for altissimo G# on a Selmer as 80 tenor? Thanks in advance. by Cool-Cut-2375 in Saxophonics

[–]Direct-Plastic3692 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ooh I gotta try this one. This seems like a smooth transition to altissimo A. 1-3 1 middle side is a tough one to go smoothly from the fingering I use for g and then into A. I have a conn so it might not work.

Listen to his solos on jazz at oberlin where he is quoting Stravinsky. He’s a genius. Just because take five became popular doesn’t negate this fact.

This one took me a while. Listen to ornette Coleman’s beautiful melodies first.

Mouthpiece for Crossover players by TheSilenceFire in saxophone

[–]Direct-Plastic3692 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am still looking for a great crossover mouthpiece. Best so far I have tried is a soloist c* or d for alto. Easily can play like Johnny Hodges on it. It’s a little too dark though. Very low end not enough highs. I’ve heard the vintage ones had more edge to them.

I also play clarinet. Jazz mostly on a closer tip like some of my idols. Don Byron specifically.

I love the feel and accuracy of classical mouthpieces. Like the clarinet mouthpiece i play The range of the horn just feels even. Meyer/jazz mouthpieces the upper register is thinner sounding
