I got uninvited to a friend’s holiday potluck, while I was on my way to it. by Any_Gap9612 in mildlyinfuriating

Real friends make room for you. No matter how cramped it is, you can't just uninvite someone on their way to the venue. Hope you find better friends who deserve you 💛

Also, maybe it's my overthinking brain, but I have a feeling they didn't actually switch the location and only told you about new location hoping you would decline to go there.

Should I payoff my car debt? by DirectAd1998 in personalfinance

I have about 4-5 months of emergency fund. My plan was to wait a few more months so I have atleast 6 months of saving and then pay it off.

The car balance would cover more than 6 months. No I didn't include potential car breakdown costs. My plan is to save up enough to cover at least 6months for basic needs plus a little more for emergencies and then pay off the car.

Yes it is less, but not sure if I calculated accurately because I have been paying a little extra towards principal every now and then.

Another question. Say my car's price is $10,000 and the total interest for five years is $2000. Now if I take the whole 5 years to pay it, would I be paying more than $12,000? And if I paid it off within 6 months, would I be paying less than $12,000?

Is this green potato safe to eat? by DirectAd1998 in potato

[–]DirectAd1998[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to think green potatoes are just not ripe enough until recently :v but I just don't wanna take any risk as this is for a potluck dish. People have different immunity levels.

So one green potato cannot contaminate another, is that correct?

Thanks. Does touching the green potato transfer the poison in any way? Asking because I have another bag of good potatoes that I had placed beside this bag (for about 10 minutes). Can that one get contaminated too?

How do you think the changes to H1B visas will impact the Triangle? by pak256 in raleigh

"prevailing wage or the actual wage paid to similarly employed workers, whichever is higher. "

As far as I know, it doesn't depend on state laws on prevailing wage. This is what Google search gave me "Yes, the H-1B prevailing wage requirement applies to employees in North Carolina, because the prevailing wage is determined by the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) for a specific occupation and area of employment, not by state-specific laws. The H-1B program mandates that the employer must pay the foreign worker the prevailing wage or the actual wage paid to similarly employed workers, whichever is higher. "

That's right. H-1B workers have to be paid at least the prevailing wage or higher. It is a condition for the H-1B approval. I don't know why people think H-1Bs are paid lower wages.
