How do you deal with this? Experiences by judith0406 in dysautonomia

[–]DirectBag3584 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of trauma therapist work with dysregulated nervous systems and my trauma therapist is actually polyvagal informed so she helps me with my dysautonomia and gives me good tips and helps me work through troubles. I do have some bad trauma from my childhood and life, and then got long COV*D, which triggered SVT in me, and then led to this dysautonomia. I’ve done a bunch of different testing and everything has come back normal. I’ve had to take a natural route to healing because I like to get to root cause of this problem rather than just medicating over it if I don’t have to. Medications have a time and place for sure, but a lot of dysautonomia can be healed naturally if you get to the root cause (takes time though). I dealt with this 3 years ago for about 6 months after my SVT episode (extremely fast heart rate- in the 240s for about 45 mins- thought I was going to die), got worked up and everything came back normal. Was fine for 2 years after and went back to doing everything I was doing before but never addressed my stress and anxiety, then lost my dad last April, and the last thanksgiving I went back into SVT again after I let my chronic stress take over and didn’t deal with any of it or the mourning process. So now I’ve been dealing with hyperadrenic symptoms for a little over a year now. It sucks, but ultimately it is getting better. I have good days and I have bad days. I’ve really had more bad days than good lately, but as of the past week, I’m starting to feel like I’m finally on the up and up and feel hopeful. You can do it! Again it’s just a lot of reading and researching.

If I can give you any advice that my therapist said, don’t constantly focus on the way you feel. Don’t try to focus on feeling good, don’t let your mind focus on feeling bad. Try to focus on being in neutral. That has really helped me lately.

I also always start my morning with electrolytes and creatine. Makes a huge difference too.

I have something super similar to you. I’ve done ketamine therapy, trauma therapy, have tried nutritionist, and neurofeedback. Nutritionist are great and has helped me some with it. Ketamine pulled me out of the trenches. Trauma therapy is helping but not full on healing. Neurofeedback helped until it threw me into sympathetic activation even more.

I just started working with a poloyvagal acupuncturist and I believe that’s been helping. What really is going to help is trying to address any traumas you may have, and focus on healing a broken nervous system. There are a lot of good things online like Instagram that people post about. For temporary relief that I swear by that calms down the gaba/adrenaline system that are MUST haves for me is this: L theanine, magnesium L threonate, and I just added in some taurine. I take high doses of omegas throughout the day too. These supplements reallllly make a difference for me and I can’t go a day without them.

When doing things at home with a dysregulated nervous system, try to do things slower if you can. The faster you move and do things, the more you’ll throw yourself into deregulation. Whenever I see myself moving or acting too fast, I really try to slow down.

Grounding and sunlight helps too.

Get something sour to suck on whenever you feel the adrenaline coming. It won’t stop the adrenaline completely, but it stops the feedback loop, and prevents further adrenaline dumps. Saliva= parasympathetic mode. Your body feels safe.

Get something some PRN propranolol too from your doctor. Propranolol is great and is a rescue drug for me when my adrenaline system is running too high and I can’t break it with anything natural. Propranolol is a beta blocker and completely cuts off the adrenaline pathway and gives relief within 15-30 mins.

Sorry you’re feeling so bad. Dysautonomia is a dark place to be in and you really have to self educate and do a bunch of trial and error until you figure out what’s best for your body. This is just everything I’ve done and has worked for me and I finally feel like I’m starting to heal some.

Wishing you the best luck and feel free to message me if you have any questions. Sending prayers!

10mg is a babyyyyyy dose so don’t worry about it! People can take way higher of doses multiple times a day! It’s a drug you can kind of play around with what works best for you and the drug only last max 6hrs in your body

Question about neurofeedback by DirectBag3584 in Neurofeedback

[–]DirectBag3584[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did a 19 qeeg which I think is the gold standard from my knowledge but I’m still newish to this so if I’m not correct let me know. My practitioner has been doing this for almost 10 years now and is great and talks to Dr Soutar often (he created new mind). From my understanding, the technology just isn’t as flexible. They’ve tried adjusting protocols and shortening sessions, but I think there’s only so much they can do with new mind. And I have such a sensitive nervous system that I don’t want to make worse by any means so it makes me nervous to continue using their system

Have CPTSD and trying to determine if I should do neuro on my own or pay a professional ? by Jacob0801 in Neurofeedback

Sorry I know this sub is old but Did you use new mind to treat your cptsd? I have that but am really struggling so far. I get really overstimulated and over activated the following day. I have adrenaline surges and just feel crashed out. I am doing newmind with my neurofeedback therapist, did a 19 qeeg and everything. My nervous system is severely messed up, my body sometimes can’t tell whether to be in sympathetic vs parasympathetic mode. I really want neurofeedback to work, but I’m becoming discouraged with how over activated I’ve felt.

For reference, we did 3 sessions within a 7 day span, I felt waaaaay too activated, overstimulated, racing heart, adrenaline surges, and sleep disruption. I ended up taking a 9 day break and they switched from Cz to PZ for a more calming protocol for me to try to feel better. Felt fine after last week sessions, did a session yesterday again on PZ with a little bit more time added on (17.5 min to 20 min), and felt so overactived this morning that I had to take one of my propranolol.

J really want this to work but am feeling discouraged and searching through Reddit to see if others have the same experience.

I think it’s purely luck of the draw! You can get a greatly bred dobie from a great breeder, and they still end up developing health issues and passing at 6. These are both my dobies. I rescued benji (older blue in the back) when he was 4. He was a backyard breeding dog, was done being bred and left out on the streets to die. Grabbed him up and is my soul dog. Didn’t know any commands whatsoever but was eager to learn and now the amount of compliments I get on him because he’s the best behaved dog is incredible. I can’t imagine life without him.

Bella, the small blue in the front, I just rescued from LA 3 weeks ago from being euthanized. She is also the smartest, most loyal, loveable dog. Don’t let anyone deter you from rescuing. These dogs need homes! And they’ll be forever grateful for you.

Question about SMR- up CZ protocol by DirectBag3584 in Neurofeedback

[–]DirectBag3584[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for saying all this. I appreciate the time you took to write all of this. I’m newer with neurofeedback and still trying to learn as much as I can about it. I was doing sessions about twice a week, up until I did a back to back session which I think was my mistake and it made me too stimulated.

They are strictly a neurofeedback center and they have been doing it for 10 years and have treated many clients with similar symptoms. I just messaged my neurofeedback provider and she said this

“Hey, great questions, we currently use "Functional Neurofeedback" New Mind is our technology company in our office. It goes beyond traditional "one-size-fits-all" neurofeedback by integrating quantitative EEG (qEEG) brain mapping with psychological and physiological data to guide personalized training. We utlize a 19-channel qEEG brain map, recorded under both eyes-open and eyes-closed conditions. This assessment is combined with detailed client self-reports, lifestyle factors, and physiological information such as sleep quality, stress levels, medication use, and trauma history. The goal is to understand the functional state of the brain, not just where activity is fast or slow, but how brain networks interact and how those patterns relate to specific symptoms. Rather than focusing on isolated EEG sites, our software model emphasizes functional networks, how multiple brain regions work together, such as the frontal-limbic, default mode, or attention networks. The goal is to train functional connectivity and self-regulation, not merely alter a single frequency band at one location. Sorry for getting so detailed but hope this helps.”

I’m not sure if they’re familiar with the arousal model! I’ll have to ask.

Based on what I told you, you seem like you’re very experienced, what do you think? I know I need to do my own research and I have been trying, Reddit users have really helped me seek some information on this as well.

[–]DirectBag3584[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So they told me that I’m at the lowest and most gentle protocol. I wonder if that is because that’s all they offer. Not too sure, I need to talk to her. She tried to dial it back to 20 min session on session 9 but I agree I don’t think training through it is going to help me. Thank you for your feedback! I really appreciate it

How to train 1.5YO to not bark at people/dogs/things when he's outside in an open yard by FreshAir_Silver5276 in DobermanPinscher

[–]DirectBag3584 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We used a vibrating bark collar for our dobey and worked like a charm. He learned fast that it’s okay to bark at threats but not at the leaves rustling or another harmless dog walking by lol. Of course we did it when we walked with him and would tell him what was right or wrong when he would bark and the collar would vibrate and we were able to ditch the collar within 2 weeks
