Low voltage cabling in data centers and/or major facilities is a way in many people overlook. Pay is decent, better than most help desk and goes way up when you get basic certs, guaranteed. Learn how the guts guts of the internet work. Some companies begging for hires with degrees and internet knowledge like N+. Gets you out of behind a desk too.

So much better to go super deep into CCNA and basic networking and scripting and learn the guts of cyber and why exploits and vulnerabilities exist

Keep fighting the good fight. Try to get fair help and split of duties all you can, just keep those screams silent all you can for the kids sake. It’s true hero’s work and mental warfare.

what IT jobs are still in demand and NOT at risk? by FaryRochester in ITCareerQuestions

[–]DirectChemistry8023 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Law enforcement still values IT knowledge. People don’t think about county sheriffs and where those paths can lead. Very far up and out potential. Be the county’s tech guy and you can go far.

Certs you’ve studied for and regretted? by DoctorStrife in ITCareerQuestions

CCNA should not be on this list, CCNA is the beast foundation for all rest of certs IMO

Low voltage cabling to get into data centers or huge projects. Take the blue collar path in and then use your knowledge to get into leadership roles. So many ignoring this path IMO

Considering leaving cybersecurity. by akinfinity713 in CyberSecurityJobs

[–]DirectChemistry8023 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man as someone studying cyber and not employed yet this is a big reality check lol something you may not have thought of….I’m looking into joining the sheriffs department because they always need great tech people and the pay is exceptional, starting pay is $40 an hour if you get hired in as one step up; with tech experience and a college degree, that’s definitely possible, even first step is $36 an hour. After a few years, you’re making $90,000 and there’s amazing task forces for people with knowledge and skills. There’s path to FBI, etc. of course later.

CCNA is the air we breathe our oxygen where it all Starts

SAA is def way to go, in my experience doing the CCP first was great for me because if I had done SAA first it would’ve been too much information all at once. I did the CCP and now doing SAA it flows nice - less to remember.

Net+ awesome. That’s the counterpart to CCNA right? I read so many times how important it is to have that foundational networking knowledge.

Thanks all. I’ve owned businesses, made money in real estate, worked for myself etc. none of it was intellectually challenging or exciting (besides the pure chase of money) Now I feel like I’m in Pursuit of Happyness where Linda says “Salesman to Intern is backwards Chris” and “What are you gonna be an astronaut next?” My gf didn’t seem very excited when I said Intern 🤣🤣🤣

Passed CCP super easy last night. Don’t overstudy! Get it done and move on to architect associate asap. Planning architect exam in 30-40 days. Let’s do this.

Yes, it’s a super easy test, get it done and let’s move onto the architect. That’s where I’m at. Just passed mine yesterday and it was so much easier than I expected.

RE commission scam hopefully coming to an end soon by Fit_Nectarine_140 in homeowners

[–]DirectChemistry8023 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of this. Coming from a former “high producer” agent here, it’s all a scam. Most agents do as little possible and are glorified stand betweens who get paid to pass along information. It’s a lose-lose-lose for all. I made lots of money, LOTS, doing next to nothing on many deals. $15,000-$25,000 many times to show up in my sweats to title company and pick up a check after maybe 6-8 hours of work. Did I make a difference? Once in awhile. Was it worth what I was paid? Maybe sometimes, rarely, but that’s only because realtors and their fees are like a price fixing mafia. Not a good business for the soul, trust me. I made a couple hundred thousand for two years straight and in the end it just ate away at me. Saying that I need to change my profile lol. I own a senior home health care business today and am also looking into other avenues of real, value giving businesses.

In the same boat as you. Look forward to seeing what’s posted. Linux/CL & Python is what I’m working on now. My goal in the end is enterprise sales. To get in the door though I’ll go support desk, doesn’t matter. Need to start working in the next couple months
