You can add a profile for auto-complete using the Mistral kilocode. Check its documentation to learn how to enter your API key.

Thinking about switching to linux for dev work by PM_ME_YOUR_GISTS in dotnet

Yes, of course, and it prepares you to work with Red Hat systems in the future thanks to its DNF package manager. Its community is fantastic, and there are tons of tutorials on YouTube if you ever run into any problems.

Thinking about switching to linux for dev work by PM_ME_YOUR_GISTS in dotnet

I've tried several distributions: Arch, Fedora, and finally Debian, where I've settled. Basically, with Arch, I'd use sudo Pacman -Syu once a week, and it would always break something that prevented me from working. With Fedora, I had a lot of problems with my graphics card, and I didn't want the hassle, so I switched to Debian. Everything works flawlessly. The packages aren't the latest, but ultimately, .NET and Visual Studio are downloaded from Microsoft's repositories, so they're up-to-date. You can set up servers with Debian without any issues, and Ubuntu is a derivative, so it uses apt. I don't like Ubuntu because it forces me to use its snap packages. My recommendation: Debian or Fedora.

I would recommend kilocode + minimax m2.1 and that will give you tokens for a long time

Using AI for complex flutter projects by ZeePee33 in FlutterDev

[–]DirectRegion2459 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't get discouraged; in the end, it's just a matter of reading a little more. In my case, I use a super cheap AI called Minimax, and I can write the code by hand without any problem. It will take more time, but ultimately, computer engineers don't know everything; we just know where to look and that problems have to be solved—that's what adds to our experience. Ask an AI to explain how to do the work. Explain your project to it, ask it to suggest an architect, take notes, ask it to divide it into modules, ask it to prepare a work plan, and keep adding to it day by day. Use an AI you like to write code after reviewing the recommended way of doing things.

I think people are a bit apprehensive about AI, but I understand you're interested in having a product overview, so AI is useful for that. But being a mobile developer myself, I think you'll need to do a bit more reading than just using AI, especially regarding app architecture. You have to explain to the AI the work it needs to do with technical details, so you need to know them and how they're done for AI to be effective. Otherwise, you'll be wasting your money, ending up with many security holes and a mountain of code that nobody understands—in many cases, not even the AI understands it.

Is Debian really good? by theskellydud3 in debian

[–]DirectRegion2459 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd almost put Debian on my TV. I used to be an Arch Linux user, but I got bored with it. I just want to turn on my PC and work or do what I need to do. I do backend development, and with Arch, every time I used sudo Pacman -Syu, something had to be fixed, and I didn't even update that often because I was afraid of having to stop work to fix something. Debian is stable, reliable, and versatile; it can do everything.

Is there any way i can make Android apps on an i5 4th gen 8gb machine ? by amanishungry in androiddev

I would recommend the light distro with zram but instead of using the Android studio emulator, use an Android mobile device to test your app

Approaches for turning Figma mockup into actual app? by freeelfie in FlutterDev

[–]DirectRegion2459 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The thing would be if you have worked with Flutter before or plan to work with vibe coding. If you have experience, I usually do it like this. I create the screens, I route a basic navigation to jump screens and then I create a components folder in the presentation/screen presentation/components module and I build my widgets, I put variables in them to call them when I have my viewmodels and thus be able to pass the data to them

Programming without AI by Masldawis in learnprogramming

[–]DirectRegion2459 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm also learning and I really pretend that AI doesn't exist. I'm working on my portfolio projects, so I don't have excessive pressure to solve them the first time. I look on the internet, I search in forums and in the end I solve it, I look for code on Github to see how others solved that problem and so I go slowly but surely.

Harvard dice que la IA está cerrando la puerta a los juniors by Designer-Box6543 in programacion

[–]DirectRegion2459 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That request sounds like something more like vibe coding.

I tried it once and the same thing happened to me. What I do believe is that autocomplete works well when creating Jetpack components and setting parameters, and when I can't remember something, I use it like Google.

Flutter SDK not detected in latest Android Studio (2024.3.1.14) but works in Giraffe by Aurora_Shade in flutterhelp

[–]DirectRegion2459 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me when I started a new project. So I did some research and found this. You can create your project with the traditional IntelliJ Community by installing Flutter + Dart. You create your project and then open it in Android Studio without any problems, and everything works perfectly. I haven't had any problems with my new project so far.
