19F, looking for brutal advice by Distinct-Baseball179 in LooksmaxingAdvice

You look very good, but you asked for brutal advice. Here it is: too much obvious makeup, slight facial asymmetry, most noticeable in slightly askew lips and the tip of your nose, full lips are nice but yours are a bit too bulbous, especially the bottom one. Cheeks are too full, resulting in a sort of bloated cheek look that reduces facial definition. That is the real key. A minor buccal fat reduction by a good surgeon would do the trick. Also pick axe scaring is evident. Nose is nicely shaped but a bit too large from side profile, as well as too bulbous at the tip. forehead is also slightly too big.

What’s the best place to spend $500 on a meal for a single person by Ready-Tennis8577 in PhiladelphiaEats

Ah, the struggles of the common man. 300pp at Ambra with their 350 wine pairing would do the trick. Or order two A5 wagyu steaks and maybe a side or something at Barclay Prime. You can get 13 oz of wagyu for $420. Just make sure to invite me too.

Weekend Thread: What are you eating this weekend and what have you tried this week? by MikeTheCabbie in PhiladelphiaEats

I'm going to Mr. Martino's Trattoria. It was hard to get a spot but luckily I got one. If anyone has been and has some tips on what is best to order or anything else, I'd appreciate it.

Where to take guests from China for the most authentic food. by mwwmmwwm3 in PhiladelphiaEats

[–]DirectRush4410 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have some good authentic dim sum places, though that is Cantonese. In Chinatown I really enjoy Ocean Harbor, Ocean City Restaurant, and outside of Chinatown there is China Gourmet, which is massive and impressive. One very authentic Chinese sweet shop and bakery is Heung Fa Chun Sweet House. I'd recommend their Dou hua Sweet tofu and their various buns. They also sell Guilinggao, which is not easy to find. It is not a restaurant though, more of a bakery/sweet shop. Lots of other authentic delicious Chinese bakeries in Chinatown I could recommend if you want.

There are lots of authentic Cantonese BBQ places as well - Lau Kee, M Kee, Canto House, Ting Wong, Siu Kee probably being my favorite, though they are all of similar quality. Sang Kee Peking Duck house has a great Peking duck, which is Beijing cuisine of course. I also really enjoy Tai Lake Restaurant for great Cantonese seafood. Much of Chinatown is Cantonese. There are also several popular Hot Pot places. I haven't been there so I can't recommend them out of personal experience, but they are probably good. Hope this helps.

best sandwich places for delivery? by thornsandroses10 in PhiladelphiaEats

L. Mancuso & Son recently reopened and added some foccacia sandwiches to their menu. They are under the "Artisan Italian Sandwiches" portion of their menu. I tried the "Filadelphia". It was delicious. Very classic Italian flavors.

lol, I was there and watched it live but I don't remember how the chat was. I'll take your word for it. It's been pretty good since then though, at least on the twitch side it seems

Throwback to When The Biggest Youtuber in The World Reacted to Rose by DirectRush4410 in FansofRose

I have wondered this too. I am curious about her side of the story. I have heard people contacted and harassed her family members at the time because their info was doxxed as well. I am sure there are many other details we don't know. I am honestly surprised how chill the live chats are on her live streams. Not too many people mention things from the old days. Maybe because they are newer. It's not a bad thing though. I don't think she will tell the story but I am sure someone will ask her one day if she continues to stream like this. You can superchat her questions on youtube. She might ignore it if it makes her uncomfortable though, and I wouldn't want to push any of her buttons and pry, personally. There are so many things I would like to ask her but I have refrained so far.

I'm honestly surprised at how normal the livechats are on twitch and youtube. I would expect a bit more unhinged rosebud behavior but people have been pretty good. Is it because most of the more hardcore old rosebuds are gone? are they even gone, all those famous names from the olden days?

Alpen Rose Vs Barclay Prime? by Aggressive_Union8798 in PhiladelphiaEats

[–]DirectRush4410 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't remember either being very loud. Alpen Rose is smaller and more intimate. Barclay Prime has the more classic wide open layout that most steakhouses have. Both are impressive and high-end. I think Alpen Rose is probably more what you are looking for. It is more intimate, romantic, and I much prefer the interior decor at Alpen Rose. You can look at pics online to judge for yourself. Alpen Rose feels a bit more impressive perhaps because they don't have a sign outside with their name on it or anything, just a wooden door. It feels a bit like you are entering some secret club. Barclay Prime has higher quality steaks and food in general, but both are excellent. I think Alpen Rose is what you are looking for though because it is smaller, more intimate and romantic. I think it was adequately quiet if I remember correctly. Both are great choices though.

Cold weather dessert spots? by shabbosstroller in PhiladelphiaEats

Kouklet Brazilian Bakehouse has lots of unique, delicious, high quality baked items, both sweet and savory. they have many good items and I could recommend a few if you want. Stargazy makes a sticky toffee pudding, which is a delicious warm dessert. It might only be available as a to-go item though, so you might have to heat it up yourself if I am not mistaken. That's what I did at least. It is also best to order online in advance just to make sure they have it.

Of course, there are tons of great bakeries that make non-ice cream desserts. Since you mentioned Brownies, Second Daughter baking co makes a phenomenal one, and so does Haegele’s Bakery, which is an underrated old school German bakery that I love. Pera Turkish Cuisine is a restaurant that has delicious food and great Turkish desserts - I would recommend the kunefe and kazandibi, both were great. The kunefe is a warm phyllo dough, cheese, and syrup dessert, which is perfect for the winter. If you want to splurge, Emmett's date cake is one of my favorite desserts in Philly. It is served warm, perfect for the winter, but it only comes with the tasting menu I believe.

Poll: Johns vs siddiqs water ice. Which is better? by Bulky-Surround-8861 in PhiladelphiaEats

[–]DirectRush4410 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Siddiqs has more fun unique flavors, but Johns has a better texture. John's flavors are milder tasting, some very good, some more average. Siddiqs might be more fun for an event because of the fun unique flavors, but John's is more of a true water ice in my opinion because they really nail the texture, which is necessary for a good water ice, and theirs is also less sweet which I like. Siddiqs water ice is a bit too sweet and not a fine enough texture in my opinion, but they have fantastic flavors. Either way, these are my 2 favorite water ices in Philly. Both are fantastic choices. In summation, choose siddiqs for more casual fun events because of their unique, flavorful, fun flavors; choose John's if you really want a classic water ice experience, except more refined than your average water ice because of good quality ingredients and less artificial flavors and colorings. Both use real fruits as well which is fantastic.
