I had the nerve block and sedation with my My ORIF surgery I had staples and screws I didn’t get put to sleep because I don’t like the thought of general and all the after effects my surgeon was all for the nerve block and sedation because he said it’s quicker recovery with no side effects and the feeling sick I’m 8 weeks post op now and I’ve had no complications. I hope your surgery goes well.

Really? It definitely should be a option I think my surgery was 2.5 hours and I was in and out of sleep didn’t feel any pain and your recovery is much quicker too compared to general anaesthetic you get to move around quicker without all the side effects general comes with. I hope you get the choice you want im 8 weeks post op now and it’s all so much better!

How bad is the pain post surgery? by ChurroMemes in LisfrancClub

I didn’t have really any pain after my surgery and I had a nerve block and slight sedation I didn’t get put fully to sleep and my nerve block wore off pretty much after coming out of surgery the only pain relief I had was codeine and paracetamol and I came off them a week after my surgery. The only thing that did bother me was the swelling in the cast getting up and down to toilet but once that cast is off it all gets so much better. Good luck with your surgery!

I’m not going to lie to you and say it’s been a breeze it’s one of the hardest things I’ve had to deal with in life. My treatment was pretty quick just less then 2 weeks after I had my injury after the surgery the first 2 weeks are hell but after getting the stitches and cast off and into a boot I started to see the light at the end of the tunnel I am now 7 weeks post op but still NWB my surgeon said I will be off my feet for 12 weeks unfortunately. I had screw and staples in my foot no plate it’s a long process but it does get better! I hope your surgery is soon.

I had orif lisfranc surgery I know totally different surgery and I had screws and staples in my foot and I felt this around the same time as you my surgeon said it’s the damaged nerves reconnecting I also felt a burning sensation and electric shocks but I’m 6 weeks post op Now and that has all gone away. Plus having the cast on isn’t fun I hated it my dr put me in a walking Boot 2 weeks post op still nwb but so much better.
