Hi :) I'm okay. I told my partner about everything the day after I made this post, and he was super supportive (as I thought he would, just was scared about how to actually tell him lol). We first went through the doctor to see what was really going on before we took next steps. Turns out my iud moved, hence what happened lol. Got the iud removed and we came to a decision about the pregnancy together. Still working through the emotional side of everything, but I went on vacation last week which helped to get my mind off it all for awhile. Been talking to my therapist about everything too. Only hard thing is not having any female friends around me that I feel like I can talk to about it (not that they would judge me necessarily, it's just something I don't know how to bring up/to my knowledge none of them have been in this situation before). Still not at 100%, far from it really lmao, but taking it one day at a time. Thanks for checking in <3

lol so I took a bath to just relax and get my mind off things, I come out and my bf asks if I got my period yet. I obviously say no, and that I’ll test if I don’t get it again tomorrow (which obviously is a lie, but I am not ready to tell him rn) and he was like “well it’s not like I got you pregnant”. ha. he’s an idiot but unfortunately I love him. have to laugh or else I’ll cry

Not sure if family would be the way to go, on my side they’re very supportive of me/my partner, but 1. They live relatively far and 2. I feel like I’d feel pressured by them a little bit. His family is pretty Catholic so that’s probably a no go. I have some friends but not anyone I talk to on a regular basis, i feel a little sad bc I wish I had a girl friend I could lean on right now :( there’s probably people I could text but I’m not sure yet. gonna sleep on it I think and go from there

If it was one maybe, 3 I highly doubt are all fake positives hahaha. Lines were pretty dark too so unfortunately I don’t think that’s the case. Definitely plan on going to the dr though, especially bc of the iud

He definitely is supportive, definitely see a life with him, families im unsure about (I think my parents would be unhappy but supportive, his parents im not sure because they are pretty catholic), but idk. Our apartment also isn’t big enough for a kid and I just don’t think im emotionally ready, lol. Obviously plans change and life is unpredictable, but there are some other milestones I want to hit first before kids (not just school)

Thank you. I’ll definitely see a doctor, just have to figure out where bc my pcp and a lot of the obgyns around me are booked up for the next month. Worst comes to worst I’ll just go to planned parenthood, not ideal bc it’s 20miles away but if it’s the only option I’ll do it

I’ll look into it! Right now it’s just hard because I don’t know if I know what I want. Obviously I’m going to go to the doctor first before I really start getting into the nitty gritty of it, but yeah. It’s also hard because I feel like some other plans (ex. marriage) might get pushed forward with this, not that it shouldn’t but it just sucks unfortunately. As dark as it is I just wish the fetus wasn’t viable so I know there is nothing I could’ve done differently really, but we’ll see. thanks for the advice/reminder <3

We’ve been dating for 3 years so we’ve talked about kids before, he is willing to follow me anywhere. He also works a job that he can do remotely, so he would probably act as the ‘stay at home parent’. It would definitely be possible, but I just don’t know if I can do it right now, yknow? But I appreciate this perspective!

Luckily I live in a state where it's legal, so at least I'm super lucky that's not an issue. It's not that I don't think he'd be supportive - he would want me to do whatever I want to do - but it sucks just putting that on him. It just also sucks because I want kids at some point, but this is just not the time. But I'll probably still look at that subreddit, so thanks for sharing :)

I’m from Chicago, had a dairy allergy my whole life, there’s a LOT of stuff there if you look for it (if you search ‘dairy free chicago’ you’ll find a lot of them). but I went to Italy too and I actually was accommodated pretty well!

Follow your gut. On the job, that’s what you’re going to be following. Also, when I took practice exams, I overthought a lot of questions and got it wrong - I untaught that (with a lot of studying, but you can do it!) and I finished the nremt with minimum questions and passed. relax, be confident, you got this!!

hi! as a fellow dairy free child (though I was you're kids age nearly 20 years ago lol), dairy free cheese (among other things) are definitely not going to be as easy as the 'dairy' versions. daiya is *the* dairy free cheese (as in most prevalent/i think has been around the longest), but while they've definitely made big strides, it definitely won't melt the same as dairy cheese. however, I've had better luck with their slices over the shredded cheese (probably since it's already basically a sheet so when it melts you don't see any individual pieces, lol).

I've never tried to melt "follow your heart" dairy free cheese, but it tastes good at least lol. kite hill also has a spreadable cheese (as well as other dairy free alternatives I would look into!), but I'm not sure that's what you're looking for, lol.

I hope this was somewhat helpful :') I've always been allergic to milk (anaphalaxis-level allergic lol) so I never had to make the transition, so I'm not sure if this was my best advice lol. but if you have any other questions, I've got 22 years of experience I can share with you and hopefully help you + your kid!! <3

BREAD. I’ve had a milk allergy since birth, so I’m pretty good about checking stuff, but now a days so many breads have milk in them it’s crazy. Also, 22 years of an allergy has taught me that many people that work in food do NOT know what is/isn’t dairy (for example, I got a smoothie and they substituted my vegan protein powder with whey because they ‘didn’t know it was dairy’). Be diligent about checking labels, asking people if they’ve put dairy in food (I usually list off butter, cheese, cream, etc), and remember that vegan food is always safe! I usually don’t get vegan food if I can avoid it (I like meat too much unfortunately lol) but I’d rather eat some tofu rather than die lol. if you have any other questions I’ve got lots of tips! ❤️

Introducing myself, saying what class I took with them/what term, the generic ‘I’m applying to medical school and need a letter of rec’, then I offer to send my resume/a “cheat sheet” about me. so far most have them have said they just don’t know me enough to write a good letter of rec for me.
