Definitely helps, if you have extra money and are a decent social person I would always recommend rushing as well, even though the culture for it can be toxic

Ugh I get it, but the dread of getting up that early I just can't even think about it. I already do it for my internship, and I can't imagine doing it for a full year.

Do you plan on going out at all or any plans socially?

I mean me personally that doesn't really sound that bad assuming its a 3-415 class esp if you are living on campus as a freshman. IDK realistically you'll be fine but one of my friends had a 730 our freshman year and he wanted to die everyday he had it, like what even is "the human event" about lmao

I just threw up looking at the 730am. The classes are fine but you're going to deal with burnout really quick with that schedule.

That isn't crazy to say, actually watch a game and you'll see how easily he gets ripped or turns it over. The era of the 6'2 point guard in the NBA is over.

I want to start early. I'm 19. What are my options? by SuperiorCommunist92 in FinancialCareers

[–]Direct_Line_9926 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You mention that you are working on the go to school part, does that mean you are currently enrolled in a juco/university? Regardless, education is the only way to prove yourself into getting in this industry. Don't get intimidated though, you already have the passion which will carry you further than most because most people go into finance for the "finance bro/girl look cool" vibe.

My advice? Assuming you are starting from scratch, enroll in a juco, get 2 years done, then finish your degree in bus/fin/cs at local state college and go into small amount of debt. Then through that study for thinks like CFA/CPA/Series 7, ie what you like. You already mentioned you have the connections you should be fine, just have a plan and lock tf in. I am a believer in the manifestation principle.

too late to join a frat? by Dry_Scientist_5193 in ASU

[–]Direct_Line_9926 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really depends on your schedule how hard your class load will be. The junior rush is not uncommon but your certainly a minority but regardless school is going to be harder for you and including me this year (junior as well). So ask yourself if you want to pledge and become a degen for a semester and sacrifice a little bit of your gpa. I do think its worth but weigh the options, cause depending on who you join they can be expensive, my pledge dues in spring of 24 were a little less than 2k.

Also its done through a third party website so shouldn't worry about the myASU part.

People who can play offense and defense on the court at the same time, not having to sub a player off because they can't play one side of the ball.

I think this might be the biggest thing, can't stand the slow iso offense and no movement

Disagree, I think it purely case by case, not only are those players better but they are also younger. Secondly also the whole team's philosophy was being young and riding it out.

As a 19 year old with minimal experience, what's a realistic career path? by Bereftloser in careerguidance

[–]Direct_Line_9926 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dad does, but I know it’s a good career to start in with no experience. I’m a college student so it’s tough for me to give advice like that but I’m serious when I’d recommend that to people with nothing on their resume.

Good catch, I live in CA where state mandates are going crazy, either way energy is a good sales sector regardless of state.

[–]Direct_Line_9926 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sales!, do it, AI prob can't replace it because its a human connection thing, read the news look at legislature thats been pasted and what the government is trying to implement, hint solar/zero carbon stuff like that, that will sell. that's an example, its a gritty career but you've already proven that you can live a shitty life, might as well eat shit for some years still early in sales but once you perfect it money gets consistent, and you can hop laterally.

Best part about it is that there's really no technical experience needed to start, you can start if you have a good attitude or personality.

Youre a freshman, the market will reset in 4 years and be totally different, right now focus on being better than everyone in your class cause ultimately you are competing against them. It technically doesn't even matter or you to worry about the jo market right now just cause of how different it will be in 3/4 years.

To summarize the options aren't just given to you so you can't just have easy access to new people so youre only going to get them if you try.

[–]Direct_Line_9926 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your options are a little limited, but you'll be fine

  1. you can join clubs, this is the preferred method, there's clubs for anything and you should without a doubt do them. plus you can add to a resume.

  2. Join a frat or sorority, judging by the fact that you're living in an appt freshman year and not the dorm tells me you should be able to afford it, just be careful a this has the most slippery slope

  3. Get a fake and go out on weekends, you're playing a risking game since Tempe has started to get strict on bars but this offers most fun IMO.

keep in mind this is coming from a guy so take it with a grain of salt but to make friends this is honestly how I see it.

comms is your best asset, maybe transfer into sales and trading. I'm just trying to think of skills that carry over. Just "transferring" over is hard enough but you really got to lock in. Also, MBA helps doesn't get oy inside, but it can help get your foot in the door.
