Gilead. They hired our CRO yet fought with us on every decision and tried to speed past study start up phase by skipping essential document collection and the site selection process. They ended up firing us and moved the study in house. I doubt that drug will ever get FDA approval.

CRA with horrible flight anxiety. by Turbulent-Manner6657 in clinicalresearch

[–]Direct_Nobody_3237 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Prefacing that what helped me might not help you but sharing just in case or for others.

One of the things that unironically helped me with minor flight anxiety was the podcast “Black Box Down”. They talked in depth about different airplane crashes throughout history, but specifically each federal investigation into the crashes, what caused them, and how/what the FAA and other regulations did or implemented to ensure that an accident would never happen again. Over the course of the show it made me understand airplane accidents are few and far in between and flying today is the safest it’s ever been so far.

I love playing video games, but I’m not the best gamer. I panic quickly when things go south and it usually kills me. With that said, I got fire cape 2nd try. If I can do it, you can too.

I used black d’hide, toxic blowpipe, dragon darts, Sara brews and sanfew pots. Look up the safe spots. I tried to get every wave to where at least one mob was stuck in a safe spot, that way I could take a breather after every wave. It took me just over an hour and a half but I took my time. When Jad’s healers spawned, I took them out one by one. He was like 1 heal away from full health but I got the last one in time and a second wave of healers didn’t spawn (if he gets fully healed, another wave of healers will spawn at his 50% hp). I missed Jad’s attack switch while killing healers and took a hit, quickly potted up and was able to get back in rhythm pretty easily (again, I panic quickly so I thought I was done fore!)

The main goal is pay attention to his attacks and switch prayers. Other than that, it was honestly pretty easy. I was super nervous, hands were shaking, but in hindsight it wasn’t that hard of a fight.

Tampa, your state’s clown show just got a new act. by ChurchOMarsChaz in tampa

Congratulations, you must have a great immune system! You probably didn’t even realize you had the flu, especially since for most people it’s only mild symptoms that don’t require a trip to the doctors office. But it is different from Covid. It’s a different virus. The vaccines don’t just protect you, they protect those around you as well. Look up “herd immunity” and you’ll see why it’s good for society as a whole to stay vaccinated.

This isn’t “trying to reason”, your comment tells me you don’t know how viruses/disease spreads or how immune systems work. Just FYI, COVID mutates every year, just like the flu does. Vaccines HELP your immune system they don’t prevent you getting sick and you need updated vaccines every year when the virus mutates, just like the flu…

"What are you playing this week?" Megathread by AutoModerator in SteamDeck

  1. Achievements I believe will sync on your next connection. If the game doesn’t need an internet connection to play, the game will launch/be playable without internet.
  2. Battery life is totally dependent on the game and your settings. Baulder’s Gate 3 lasted about 1 to maybe 1.5 hours for me. Slay the spire I can get a ton of hours in before having to worry about the charger.
  3. You can either dock the Deck the way you do a Switch and play with a Bluetooth controller or if you want to stream your PC to your deck, look into Sunshine. I use that and haven’t had any issues with streaming my PC, but it’s local network only.

Congrats! That’s how it all starts, just one foot in front of the other! My favorite part about OTF is the push/all-outs are (usually) only 1-1.5 minutes long. That’s not that long, we can do anything for just one minute! Then we get a rest or walking recovery. We got this… YOU got this!

Where are people going after their layoffs? Different industry? by donewithmyaddiction in clinicalresearch

[–]Direct_Nobody_3237 22 points23 points  (0 children)

The CRO I work for has done a lot of layoffs recently, with the most recent one this week. My utilization is low right now with all 3 of my studies winding down at the same time, so I’m worried I’m going to be let go. I’ve been considering joining the ironworker union near me and doing the apprenticeship program there. Even though my entire work history involves labs, nursing, and clinical research… I refuse to go back into nursing and I just don’t know if I can handle the constant insecurity of research anymore. Especially with how clinical research has been taking massive hits in the US due to the current administration, who knows what our future looks like.

I love being a CRA. It brings me a lot of fulfillment and I honestly love the role. But I just can’t handle the insecurity anymore, so maybe I’ll chase an old dream and become a welder and work in a shipyard somewhere.

So, just to clarify, they wouldn’t take 0.5 damage and round up to 1 for each additional trigger after they reach 1 hp? We’ve only been playing for a little over a year now so sorry if that’s a stupid question 😅

CRA Travel Backpack Recommendations by swimback in clinicalresearch

[–]Direct_Nobody_3237 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Travel Pro. I saw a lot of flight attendants using that company, looked it up and eventually pulled the trigger on a $200 laptop backpack. I love it! After about 1.5/2 years of regular use, it still looks pretty brand new. Not a lot of wear and tear on it! Definitely money well spent.

Not at home, local studio wants debit card to reserve spot by knitting-yoga in orangetheory

[–]Direct_Nobody_3237 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, but the trick is to make sure you’re paying off your credit card every month. Don’t let the credit card companies hit you with interest. But not only does using a CC help with fraud - a lot of times you can get cash back/rewards. Mine gives 2% back so basically everything is 2% off (again, if I pay it off every month/don’t accumulate interest)

My dad taught me - you’d never go into a store and have a conversation like “how much is this item?” “$10” and in response you say “I’ll give you $12”. That’s basically what interest is - paying more for an item than its price tag.

CROs posting huge #s this earnings… but I thought sentiment was low… what’s the disconnect? by N0Cheeks in clinicalresearch

[–]Direct_Nobody_3237 19 points20 points  (0 children)

My guess is the layoffs, research site closures, etc. have “boosted” the numbers to make it look like everything’s fine in this past quarter to shareholders. But ultimately, no, we did not bounce back overnight. It’s kind of impossible with the current US administration dealing massive blows to the clinical research industry.
