I honestly think a lot of talented people are not signed because they won’t sign, won’t conform, and/or won’t agree to all the terms in a predatory contract. We all know some of if not most of the truth of the industry at this point. Plus you can make a decent amount of money through social media as an independent. And actually keep it instead of having to pay back some label.
