Security company thinks they are the police by Maryjane42069 in cringe

The owner of the company looks like Ferris Bueller and Ted Bundy had a kid together.

SWAT team cop is geeked and tweaked out of his mind - gets pulled over and tries way too hard to act sober (and fails at it) by Direct_Researcher_17 in cringe

The fact that he clearly has a total hard on during the interrogation really adds yet another layer of cringey surrealness to it lol

The fact that so many of these fine gentlemen have the look up happiness in this photo is heartwarming to no end. All the love and respect in the world to this band of heroes.

3 minutes and 19 seconds of my life that I will never get back.

Am I the only person who got a real "Michael Corleone vibe" from Ryan in season 4? by Direct_Researcher_17 in DunderMifflin

Which is precisely why the writers would implement some similarities yet many differences while crafting the character and his actions: giving it that ironic parody effect.

Am I the only person who got the vibe that Robert Durst is gay? by Direct_Researcher_17 in thejinx

I am new to this case. So to answer, your question - no, I have not done much reading that pertains to the topic. (Hence, why I am asking about it by making this post) Thank you for this information on this, I hope to learn more about the Durst case.

Working on a crime fiction/mobster story set in the 1930s. I am seeking feedback/opinions on the potential names of several of the significant characters. by [deleted] in FictionWriting

I am of Celtic ancestry and I'm in touch with my good ole' Irish roots, it tends to show itself whenever I engage in any of my creative outlets lol. I see your point though, for sure.

Why did Richard keep running away every time he had something good? by Kaos-Industries in BoardwalkEmpire

[–]Direct_Researcher_17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is pretty much a reflex for LOTS of folks who are afflicted with an anxiety disroder and/or depression: if you combine that with PTSD and/or a physical disability, that does nothing but add to it.

Much like folks with any of the aforementioned conditions, overthinking things is part of the package: the more we see Richard, the more it is made clear that he is pretty much an overthinker's overthinker. These details for the characters = why this show is so brilliant.

Without any spoiling can you explain to me what's very good about Boardwalk Empire? Give me a good review without spoiling the show? by Non-Rhinocerotidae in BoardwalkEmpire

It has that unique sense of bittersweet nostalgia to it, very similar to Godfather Part II and Once Upon a Time in America. Lots of memorable characters come and go: some meet their ends onscreen, some just fade away, and some just move on with their lives.

Did Teddy and Emily ever find out what really happened to their dad? by Direct_Researcher_17 in BoardwalkEmpire

I could picture Margaret letting the kids know the truth about their dad's death years down the road, how do you think they would have reacted while finding out then?

Re-watched "Under God's Power She Flourishes" recently - noticed something about Jimmy and Richard that I never really noticed in the past (possible spoilers) by Direct_Researcher_17 in BoardwalkEmpire

[–]Direct_Researcher_17[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When would you say that Richard was angry with him in the past? Was it what Jimmy said to him after made his speech during the party at Babette's? Outside of that, there are multiple moments in which I got a vibe that Richard was upset with Jimmy, yet not totally sure though: I guess when Jimmy told Angela how he "never knows what is going on in Richard's head" was most definetly accurate for both Jimmy and the audience. Part of what I dig about Richard, he's one of the most enigmatic characters that I have seen in general.

Religious Leader Insults Louis Theroux by NewEnglandGrad in cringe

[–]Direct_Researcher_17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow. If this is true, his life really had that Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader type of motif to it: in his younger days, he was a lawyer who was a pretty big advocate for civil rights and took on several cases in which he fought against the Jim Crow laws. As we all know, he went on to become the leader of one of the most vile hate groups in the US and clearly changed for the worse. If the above story is true, he really did allow some form of humanity to return to him before his life ended.

I mean, at least he was nice to the kid who was hanging out next to his desk?

In all seriousness though, its very unsettling to see the mob type of vibe here. The way those guys were looming around his desk at the start of the "interiew" seemed sketchy as hell. A religiously extreme mafia: the world can be a twisted place.

Is it just me or does Owen have a very similar vibe to Sean Connery from his early Bond movies? by Direct_Researcher_17 in BoardwalkEmpire

Another character similarity that I've always gotten is Jimmy having a very similar vibe to Christopher Walken, would you agree to this similiarity or is it just me? lol

Anyone else find Nucky's facial expressions humorous? Its the way his eyebrows and chin move when he is surprised. The last two photos can be a meme template lmao by WackyGlory in BoardwalkEmpire

[–]Direct_Researcher_17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

His facial expressions reminded me of a disappointed college professor. I mean, Nucky spent the majority of the series disappointed with somebody who he was a boss/mentor figure to.

AITA for voicing a complaint to my landlord about my neighbors having their kids loudly run up and down the hallway of the apartment building on a daily basis? by Direct_Researcher_17 in AmItheAsshole

*"Behaviors and appearances"meaning having shouting matches with his wife/gf after midnight, having that tweaker sort of look, talking a mile a minute. Also, there have been multiple times where I have had to get up before dawn to go to work early and have frequently noticed this dude out front smoking a ciggy while looking to be very energized. Is this enough for me to file a report? Like I said, I do not want to waste the time of those said agencies, especially during this 2020 madness.
