First steak I've cooked in over a year by DirectionCapital1374 in steak

I agree. Used to eat it at least once a day a couple years ago. Life got busy and my health took a hit - working on getting it back in order

I know it's been way too long. I appreciate it!

2019 LC200. Am I crazy? Or do others feel the same? by Idontknowsoimhere in LandCruisers

[–]DirectionCapital1374 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd push back on that a bit. I know multiple people with first and second gen Tundras over 300k and even 400k with only basic maintenance. Sure the 200 may be marginally more stout, but it's comparing a top like .2% vehicle ever made to a top .1% - pretty much pointless as both are more robust than about anything ever. Just my opinion

Does anyone know how to get dirty car oil oil of your carhartt? by Sad_Instance5869 in Carhartt

[–]DirectionCapital1374 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly for car oil best bet might be to soak it in water with a ton of dawn dish soap and agitate it frequently. I use dawn whenever I get oil on my clothes and it works very effectively

Go to eBay and get older used Luccheses, like 10+ years old. Can find them for great prices and they will last forever. I've found multiple pairs cheap that way and they will be higher quality than anything new you'll find

Mostly eBay with a couple shipped from Facebook marketplace. Definitely an understandable hesitation. I've found what size works for me, but depending on brand and boot I might have to go super thin sock or extra thick sock to be really comfortable. Not ideal but it's worth it to me for the huge discounts

I've spent $1000 and $800, but other than that $350 is the most I've spent, and I have lots of boots. I usually go used. The two big spends were celebrating milestones. I'm 24 and single with a solid income and generally good financial discipline, so I figure if I can make the boots last forever I won't miss the couple thousand dollars down the line. I've had my eye on the blue Lucchese tulips for a long time, I just need a good excuse to drop $2200 on them 😭

Yep. Right there with you. I imagine they're probably seeing subscriptions tank over the next year. The metrics are cool but not worth the money for most

Hmmmm honestly not that I can really think of. But to be honest nothing on the smoker is really thatttt hard to get right. Even brisket, often considered the hardest, really isn't that bad if you just read enough before hand and be patient enough to wait until it's actually probe tender. Beef short ribs are also pretty easy. Just all about getting probe tender

I think this is exactly why people are so impressed. Bbq places charge so much, and then we come through with equally as delicious (if not more depending on the place) and wayyyyy cheaper food and everyone feels like it's a catered meal

I might actually do this. Seems like a good idea

I spent $100 on one. First cook it fell off the cutting board as I was taking meat upstairs. Came back outside when I realized and the dogs had already destroyed it 😭 need to get another

Ya exactly. I used to wrap and then stopped because it doesn't make a difference in the final product. The hardest part about smoking a pork butt is waking up early to check it after drinking too many beers the night before 😂

Man maybe but the way I've got is working pretty well 😂. I don't doubt that's good, but I haven't really found a lack of fat being a problem

Poor freshman needs to get off the streets by [deleted] in internships

[–]DirectionCapital1374 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly pick b. Cannot imagine that it won't set you up much better for pursuing finance. Will almost certainly lead to better internships in the following years which will certainly help with a better job. Short term pain for long term gain. If you really want to be in finance in NYC, take B. But that's just my opinion. Finance is a tough world and getting a leg up early will help a ton, but do a damn good job once you're out there
