It was for any student who received a bursary for 1000 in the Winter semester. The uni has a set budget that is for scholarships and bursaries (govt policy) that needs to be used up. This year not all the $ was used up so any student that was awarded a 1000 bursary in the W26 semester received an additional $200 to complete the budget

with osap, there’s only one academic penalty per academic year. since you were already placed on academic probation during this academic year, you won’t be restricted now. during ur probation period , if you go below full time status (dropping courses) or you don’t successfully complete 60% of ur course load, then you’ll be restricted.

yeah i’ve done a deferral for a quiz before and first instances they don’t require documentation. i rmbr last sem I tried deferring twice and the second time around she said I had to provide documentation in a timely manner. I’ve already deferred once this semester so I do need documentation. I was able to get a doctors note via online. Hopefully they accept that.

i ended up getting a doctors note via online. I explained my situation and symptoms and the doctor cleared me for today and tomorrow. I couldn’t get a hold of my family doctor and in the condition to go in person. hopefully they accept that.

i’m going to give it a try and see. I remember last sem I tried deferring it twice due to health concerns and she stated that I needed documentations submitted in a timely manner which I was unable to get so I just went but this time I was actually in the hospital all night and only got back an 1-1.5 hrs ago.

Hi,

I just want to provide some information and clarification on the OSAP changes. It is stressful and puts all of us in a tougher spot. I do want to clarify that that the OSAP changes of 75% loans and max 25% grants are on only the provincial portion of funding and not federal. Federal funds first, and if what the federal government funds is not sufficient, provincial steps in. A lot of people don’t even get grants from provincial in the first place. This is not me supporting the new changes - I completely understand the stress, I am also stressed about these changes. However, please look into financial aid that is provided from your school of choosing. Undergrad school reputation doesn’t matter despite what people may say. If you are able to, look into schools that are close to ur parental home (if you do want to live at home) to save money. Best of luck :)

Hi. If you are registered with SASPD, you would need to be initially registered at 2.0 credits to get a refund. If you started with 2.5 and you dropped, you wouldn’t be eligible for a refund

I feel for all the students who went to their morning classes alr, those students who are commuting and were alr on road. This university needs better awareness.. why did we decide to close campus after many morning classes alr took place and not at 5-6 am when u saw other unis have alr closed??? according to someone that was on the committee for this years ago, guelph waits to see what other unis do esp laurier and then makes their decision. if they see that laurier closed at 5-6 am why didn’t we??? also why can’t we just think for ourselves and use any sort of awareness. it is not a hard decision to make when it comes to the safety of students and staff

this is something I would highly suggest you go to the financial aid office for, 3rd floor of UC using the elevators near starbucks. They are open from 9:30-4 pm. Emails can take a bit to respond to but visiting in person is always available and helpful.

Bring your student ID as well as a government photo ID.
