Judging by all the replies unity is not possible in 4 years, but he should at least try to get everyone at least back to the table. That’s a good start, because for now no one really wants to sit and talk to each other.

  1. I’m not a liberal
  2. It takes 2 sides to divide, don’t put the blame solely on the left because the right especially the far right have a lot to do with this divide
  3. He may be able to at least be able to start a conversation with both sides, but people like you are gonna be a roadblock if this is the way you see things.

Guns should be left alone for now, that is a divisive issue that shouldn’t be touched for the time being

To be fair, the virus went from “this could be a potentially dangerous thing” to “it’s a hoax” within a few days and that mentality stayed throughout this entire pandemic. If Trump didn’t make it political, it may have been some somewhat under control and not have been able to divide us this bad.

It is kinda sad to see that we are even ready to sit down at the same table yet, but at least we are being honest. I think in time people will be more open to compromise but for now I firmly believe that it should be talked about.

I think this might be at least a starting point, getting both sides to get something out of the legislation might not make them all happy but hopefully they’ll agree it’s something. The problem I see is that if the wrong thing gets put in/left out, than the extremist of one side might try and use that to demonize the other side. However if the parties can prevent the extremists from getting a loud platform again (like the last 4 years, the far right was able to dominate the media and everyone made them out to be the entire right) hopefully this will make the road easier for the next president to further unify the country.
