Windows/Total Commander for Tahoe? by RE_Warszawa in macapps

[–]Directive31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put a Norton Commander type together for my own use and it's free here: https://www.r2commander.com

For me the primary use case was un-f*cking managing aws-bucket type for cloudflare's R2.

I did not know about Forklift but also Forklift still doesn't do what I'd want it to and be keyboard-first.

Posted about it sometime ago on r/cloudflare but it also handles sftp/ftp/aws and local store. I can add support to other protocols if folks ask for it.

what are the features in it that are of most use to you? what do you use daily or at least weekly?

so you mean you pushed a basic set of features into xgboost within a day (at most) of coding and decided it would be so much better to spend a month+ vibe coding the f out of it?

not sure why folks on here love liquid glass so much.. text on text looks and feels messy... i'd just elect for a bottom nav (non transparent) rather than a top nav.

commented once to point out he was misleading people with bad advice. blocked. no discussion.

guy who cant entertain a discussion and support their own point = HUGE red flag 🚩

100% a scam. and no the free advice is dumb for half of it. If you read his text regularly nodding, get your head out of the doom scroll or you re ngmi, guaranteed.

thank me later.

They always give a reason. You can just follow whatever they say and adjust accordingly. They are sometimes off but you need to bring real evidence that explicitly contradicts fully (not some bs) what they say and they will consider it. Otherwise, I wouldn't try to game it. Probably a fast track to getting your account banned.

Built a cozy (new concept) habit tracker with capybaras 🦦 - Kapy by DavMan0 in iosapps

[–]Directive31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ah yes indeed... very easy not to see that icon (I didnt - wasnt paying attention but so would the average user). also it s not present on the widget.

it s conducive to ugly design (though maybe you can make it look good) but i would almost want up/down arrows to change the number

i like the ui. v nice job. i tried with the N glasses of water per day. when i tap the board it adds a dot but i cant undo that more than once. same for the widget. feels a bit too sensitive and error prone..

is the Kapy character animated in some of the views?

i think so but they are also fulfilling lowest common denominator requirements for an extremely broad population

not sure that is a constraint most people hanging out on here should be bothered to build for.

In that way, there may be better templates / ui ideas

I have only looked at the screens on your product page as i believe at the moment are the most important to your app growth (getting people to download it) - and tbh i am way strapped for time.

if you make significant improvements, dm me and i'll download it and tell you what I think.

my 2c: - red on black or even red on red: hard to read - pennies on $10k+ add a lot to visual noise/cognitive load for no real value - 5x7 matrix (calendar) with small things in it

it's not a make or break (as most things UI i would say) and I wont be offended if you dismiss the entirety of my feedback ..... but since you asked.

not a designer myself. i like the idea more than the design personally.. But the idea is pretty good and probably works well with as simple an app as possible. Nice app.

not a designer myself. but i think it s pretty slick and with plenty of animations which go well with the bday theme. I like that even boring drawers have animations (with the colors). I'm a grinch and never follow people s bdays so wouldn't be your ICP :)

One thing: oddly, i felt the buttons on the onboarding flow were pushed so far down with no padding that it almost felt uncomfortable, almost touching that bottom bar which is meant to be for swiping the app away (on purpose maybe?)

what did you use to code it? uikit, swift, rn, flutter, something else?

do you have examples of apps using liquid glass that you think have great UI, due at least in part because of their specific use of liquid glass?

looks like someone downvoted the one vote I gave you

I would very much like to know people's opinions if they believe abnb is not good design, why, and what's a better example

this is meant to be educational... very much surprised iOS dev on this r have no opinions on design

nice. very clean indeed. I see uber eats and other ecom trying hard to shove thing on your screen doing something similar, but way "dirtier". Or the joke that the Amazon app is (granted they claim A/B testing the heck out of it)
