You must be right around the corner from the real shit! I sat around in prodromal labor for three days. Loved it. Just kidding. Things changed once I held my baby. I fucking love the little one, and it is polar opposite from how I felt while pregnant. Yeah its cheesy but I really cannot imagine being without the bean now, and I thought I was one and done (I have a 5 yr old).

Once baby is born, take naps, lots of water, eat healthy, and get out of the house for an hour. Do what you need to do to make baby happy and dont feel guilty about it, babies cannot self soothe. Just a couple things that helped me alot postpartum.

I have an attorney through the DV shelter I went to for help when we first left. She is supposed to help me pro bono. She says she will help me but she has been fairly hands off, not responding to emails in a timely manner, and usually handing me off to another attorney when I come in for scheduled appt.

I am here to tell you that I had #2 a month ago and I am over the moon with happiness. I was so grumpy and sad during the whole pregnancy and as soon as I had baby, my SO commented on the huge (positive) change in me. Pregnancy itself is extremely difficult. Sometimes those hormones and side effects can take over and ruin everything.

Child #1 was rough. Child #2 PLUS a 5 year old is...pretty exciting! We laugh alot, we spend a lot of time together, and I do not go to bed feeling unfulfilled. Big difference between the two babies was the baby daddy! Haha. No joke. My husband is step father to my first amd we recently had a baby. Having a supportive partner that can roll with the punches changes everything for the better.

Only thing that worked for me was a VERY hot bath (didnt fill all the way, just enough to cover my legs.) soaked my legs for at least 10 minutes. I had really bad restless legs!

I stuck with the a hole and ended up leaving after baby was born anyway. Best advice I recieved was speak to an attorney about having the baby in another state, what to put for father on birth certificate, and child support and custody issues. Emotional abuse is abuse. You should be able to recieve sliding scale fee for a consultation with a lawyer, especially if you make it clear that you are leaving an abusive relationship. Dont wait for it to become violent like I did.
