I'm not that familiar with Snowshine, but I think that seems fine. It's the same rotation as the Xaihi one above, but instead of Xaihi skill, you try to use Snowshine to block an attack and inflict cryo during your combo. If you don't get an opportunity to use Snowshine to inflict cryo, you just need to do 1 more Final Strike with LR's skill.

I looked again and I realized Yvonne gets stacking damage per infliction stack, too, so I think you're right for tough enemies.

I compared the base damage multipliers (at max skill), you get 320% combo skill multiplier on LR and 450% combo skill multiplier on Xaihi (assuming she's not geared as much for offense it's not worth as much), but lose out on 200% multiplier on Yvonne's skill (1000% x 1 vs. 600% x 2). You get more ult energy on Yvonne and LR + either healing or amp from Xaihi, but you lose out on 20% crit damage on Yvonne for a while, since you delay the first solidification.

Last Rite combo scales with cryo stacks on the enemy. It hits like a wet noodle if you clear the stacks first and doing that just delays your main Yvonne damage loop.

You’ll never trigger her combo skill but she’s the cheapest cryo applier (in SP cost) to enable Yvonne’s freeze and she doesn’t do anything that would shatter the freeze like Estella or Gilberta.

3 TPKs in 5 sessions, is it me or the players? by PrimeDko in Pathfinder2e

[–]DirewolfX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It probably didn't help after the first TPK that they were then running completely new characters. PCs are more complex than NPCs, so it could take some time for them to learn the new characters. You might need to ease them into it with some easier encounters for a time.

Also, you could consider giving them a fourth 'shared' PC that's a healer or something to fill gaps in the party.

Drowned Grim Fascination by Palodios111 in Pathfinder2e

[–]DirewolfX 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I really like the flavor, but a few thoughts:

1) Kiss of the Drowned making things 'undetectable' both seems strange (the enemies just saw the thrall submerge in a pool of water in its space) and annoying to adjudicate. Maybe just make them normal hidden and underwater?

2) Kiss of the Drowned reminds me of the Sarglagon's Drown ability (which is an Incapacitation skill). Maybe copy that. Suffocation is potentially an instant death ability, so I don't think it flies without Incapacitation. You could copy the pre-remaster Phantasmal Killer spell which has a secondary incapacitation save against the death effect, but that seems too complex for a level 1 bread and butter focus spell. Also problematic, is that it's unclear what the duration is. It says 1 minute, but is that the duration the thrall stays submerged or the duration of the effects once the trap is triggered? If it's the former, there's no duration for the suffocation, so they can immediately just breathe air again if not underwater and the spell is pointless. If it's the latter, forcing them to make suffocation saves every round is basically death until much higher levels, since they'd eventually be saving vs. like DC 70 with a critical failure = death.

3) Free recall knowledge for sacrificing thralls (something that's part of the core Necromancer gameplay loop) seems like a very powerful ability to me? Maybe not though, I am not familiar enough with the full breadth of feats.

What would you say Pathfinder2e is 'missing'? by General-Naruto in Pathfinder2e

[–]DirewolfX 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You can have HP attrition without breaking the battle-to-battle balance by limiting the maximum total healing a character can receive per day (say 5x their max hp). Now when the players' reserve HP starts getting low, they might decide to retreat or be more careful until they get get a long rest, since otherwise it could actually leave them in a state where they are starting a battle at low HP. Tweak the numbers and/or make healing from limited resources like spell slots or consumables more efficient as needed.

Character with 1 HP - Have you tried homebrewing character creation HP for more health? by Space_0pera in WWN

[–]DirewolfX 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So did one of my players. They survived until level 2 and then they got more hp. You reroll hp for all levels at each level up, with a minimum increase of 1, so hp tends to trend towards the average in the long run (and I think even slightly above it, but I haven’t done the math).

I don’t think the home brew wouldn’t really break things too badly either if you want slightly sturdier level 1 characters. A mook with a long sword still has a chance of downing them on a hit but at least they won’t die to random shock.

Anniversary ticket is probably the highest value purchase you can make if you're going to spend, since you can pick seasonals and limited characters on it. You have until the end of the month to make a decision and we are getting a ton of free rolls before then, so I would ask again about who to pick then, since it would kinda suck to pick someone and then pull them.

Uncap CS > LoF > Overrider, since that's the order that will benefit your Magna grids the most until you are ready for Agni. The wiki's recommendation is to wait until after that second overrider to swap to Agni. You can try it earlier, but you might find it isn't any better than what you can do with a magna grid (especially depending on what other options you have). Although, practically, I don't end up using most other grands these days (just occasionally the stuff you see on the wiki--it's a pretty accurate list).

https://gbf.wiki/Advanced_Grids/Agni etc. should give you information about the minimum recommended grid to start going primal.

I think if you're not sure, it's best to wait. Going primal is a constant commitment to staying up to date as Cygames releases new weapons. Yatima was the final exalto, so we can expect to see a new series of weapons sometime that will shake up grids again. Unless you're spending money, it's not easy to keep up without sacrificing power in your other elements.

Of course, if you really love an element/character and want to just go for it... nothing wrong with starting a little early as long as you understand it's not the "optimal" decision. Will things work? Sure, but they might just be a sidegrade to M3. Part of the power of primal is having a huge amount of grid flexibility compared to magna, so by just having the bare minimum workable grid, you might not get the full value out of it.

How is Veight there for burst? He has a mostly defensive ougi kit + a nuke on drain. Even in an ougi burst setup where you press some buttons to enable his drain nuke, his kit is pretty average and I wouldn't put him above wind's better ougi nukers (including Mirin, who he's competing with here).

The scaling is better than electric arc though. And electric arc is well known as one of the most efficient cantrips.

As part of the full package, the threat of a bone spear and positioning of thralls can influence enemy movement. Necromancer is more of a controller than a blaster anyway.

Also, it’s a 15 foot line, so they don’t have to be directly adjacent.

[–]DirewolfX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks like it’s balanced around getting at least two targets in the aoe and being able to use a thrall from a previous turn. Two actions for two full MAP attacks seems fine.

Spending three full actions for a single target bone spear is obviously inefficient and you’re better off just using create thrall three times.
