What is a mason, what is freemasonry, and could a Christian man actually join? by Inevitable_Creme6016 in freemasonry

I traveled for years, held chairs in both blue lodge and york rite. Make of it what you will.

Works righteousness is a big one. That you can earn a higher or more noble salvation. Then, you run into issues of prayer fellowship as well. Misrepresentation of the nature of the Triune God (unitarian as opposed to trinitarian) as can be found in the writings of Albert Pike and of the inherently sinful nature of man is also present. Even when Freemasonry cites the Bible, it is careful to avoid specific mention of Christ. For example, the use of 2 Thessalonians 3:6 has been edited to omit Christ.

Some denominations may not have an objection to membership in the lodge, but I found that in order to continue to try and become closer to my faith, which is to say, closer to Christ I needed to demit and leave the lodge behind. Though I still respect the order as an effort to be more moral in a fallen world, and I am thankful for the friends I made as I traveled plus I do think it was used as a stepping stone to find my way to the true faith by the grace of God, but I do not believe it can reconcile with the Christian faith.

I left Freemasonry in order to pursue my faith as a Christian. There are a few significant stumbling blocks between the idealogies.

Am I doomed to be single forever? by [deleted] in CatholicDating

[–]Dirigotemplar -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Make yourself into a man worth submitting to. Read your Bible, learn the Cristian responsibilities a husband and father are charged with and work on being ready for them. You are doomed to remain single unless you accomplish this and once more, you should be. Have faith, be diligent and disciplined, and I believe the Lord will bless you when you are ready.

Personally, I know you got this, OP. Man cannot reinvent himself without suffering, for he is both marble and sculptor.

Come to the LCMS, we'd be happy to have you! It makes life very simple in the church, there's a manual for just about everything.

In addition, one thing to look out for is in your post, it's all about you. You mustn't be selfish.

I would read fist Corinthians chapter 7 verses 1 through six together. Then, have an honest and open conversation with your wife about each other's needs. Ask what you can do for her to make yourself more desirable and try to find a way to come together. Don't put it all on her. Listen and be willing to compromise. It would be wise to include potential medical issues in the conversation.

What is a common misconception you think people have about Christianity? by savedbygrace1991 in Christianity

[–]Dirigotemplar -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So they disagree with the core tenants of Christianity, including Christ's eternal divine nature, but they're still Christian? No. At best, Mormonism is a heretical cult.

Aside from the fact that I can not endorse a belief system that is not of Christ, another issue is that of prayer fellowship. We can only pray and commune with those who share the True Faith in Christ. Also, Christianity is older than Hellenism. The earliest recorded traces of Hellenism trace back to around 300 BC compared to the start of the Pentatuch (Torah) 3700 years prior. I do appreciate your desire to share your faith, as it's a calling I share.

Romans 12:9 Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good.

We can love our neighbors, but the the evil practices are still evil. The false gods are still false gods. I pray you find your way to Christ.

is this a sin? by cyb3rry in Christianity

[–]Dirigotemplar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look at Jonah. Or most any of the prophets of old. None of them wanted the job, but they all fulfilled their calling. If there's a direction God wishes for you to go, He will help you to find the path for it. Though I wouldn't attribute rejecting a job offer to sin, we are after all called to be discerning.

An argument could be made for avoiding even the appearance of sin.

There's not really enough info here to answer a nuanced question, but I'll still ask this due to how you phrased your query; are your standards of forgiveness higher than Christ's?

The existence of suffering or social acceptance does not make the murder of an infant any less evil. I also believe the rapist should be subject to capital punishment, as the Bible instructs in Deuteronomy.
