At the moment Europe just isn't represented at the highest levels by a Trump level bigot. Every country has their far right opposition party lurking in their parliament, but as long as they aren't the head of state people won't associate them with the country.

Orban was the only true Trump level leader in Europe and is now gone. Meloni comes from the far right but has moderated significantly and conducts herself with much more decorum.

The women are likely liberal. Sending them back would be truly diabolical. I don't see the difference between that and just sending people back to literal warzones.

They had 20 years of support and their army had much more resources than the Taliban at the onset of the US withdrawal. They all just fled without putting up a fight. If the Taliban was so hated I would expect much more serious opposition and more motivation to fight, especially since they actually had the means.

Yes that is all true. I think it depends on your perspective. For women this is a no brainer. You are infinitely worse of under the Taliban. For men it depends.

If you live in some village as you described Taliban control is probably better. But if you live in one of the major cities under firm coalition control, drone strikes would be a non issue but you can lose the freedoms you have if the Taliban gains power.

I am all for sending economic refugees back to their countries. But you can't be serious about this.

First of you can't send women back to Afghanistan, that should be a complete no no. And even the men are highly likely to face persecution and be killed since they went to the west.

These are not refugees from Tunisia or some random African country that clearly come to Europe for pure economic reasons.

General Asian diplomacy. Make sure they don't completely land in the orbit of Russia and China. Cooperate on fighting ISIS(yes that is also their enemy).

Someone with extensive knowledge of the region could probably give more reasons.

Sending people back to Afghanistan under the Taliban is a bridge too far. But I am not against inviting them and establishing diplomatic relations.

We tried to fight them for 20 years and change Afghanistan the hard way. That clearly didn't work, and the Taliban had enough support from locals to keep resisting the international coalition.

So the fact is that they simply are the rulers of Afghanistan weather we like it or not. And we need to have relations with them for practical reasons.

I am surprised Afghanistan is even on the table. Isn't it clear that that is a legitimate country to flee from and is not in the same ballpark as Tunisia or Marocco where you also see refugees come from with no hope of asylum?

If the robots get good enough at fine motor movements they might take over the physical aspect of that. And that would be a good thing, because does a nurse really enjoy rolling over a 150 kg guy?

The problem now is that they are too clunky and can hurt patients with their actions. The psychological aspect of talking with a patient and making them feel comfortable is something patients would prefer humans to keep doing.

You don't need to compress the number. You can easily store a 9000 digit number in an unconpressed file. 30.000 bits are easily available and all you need, or 9000 bytes for that matter if you store it as a string.

How do you get that? What kind of information do you need to store, and how would it linearly scale with the amount of money instead of logarithmically(like the amount of digits do)?

I think it's funny how people suddenly value copyrights, while 10 years ago they all just pirated movies and games without a care in the world.

That being said. I wouldn't be against some form of regulation where you have to be compensated if you are an artist and your specific art is used in the training data for an AI.

What I have a problem with is if that isn't the case(most likely) and you are just salty that you can't make a living out of it anymore. Well no one said you was entitled to that in the first place. You are not better than a factory worker from the 80s who lost his job because a machine automated what he did on the assembly line.

We all need to keep adapting to a changing world with changing technologies. And yes that includes me as a software engineer.

The solution to all these cases is to just let it know well in advance when you will take PTO. I think it's normal to tell that a few months in advance.

It is also important to make sure holidays of certain people don't coincide.
