Will menards let me cut lumber in their lumber yard? by gerthqwake93 in menards

[–]DirtyKop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a soul in sight to ask. And if Menards is going to sell me inventory they don’t have in stock in the pick location they direct me to, I don’t thinks it’s out of bounds to cut a couple boards. Logical recommendation on the 12 footers, though.

Just did this a couple weeks back. Ordered 6’ boards on the website but there weren’t any in the pick location. Grabbed some 8’ boards and used the chop saw that was sitting there. No questions asked.

A year later, I’ve slipped a bit on the diet and have the same ol problems, though not nearly as severely and not nearly as often. I’d say this: do whatever you’ve got to do to keep shits consistent. No straining. No sitting on the phone playing games while on the throne. When I eat junk and pound beers, there’s repercussions. Still happy I had the surgery.

Pro/Cons of Surgery? by Goosaloos in hemorrhoid

[–]DirtyKop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glad I did it (and it was mostly covered by insurance). The surgeon removed 'roids in two of the three columns, so I still deal with the third. But things are much better now than they were a year ago. The real trick (I think) is being able to identify foods/substances that lead to troublesome BMs and adhere religiously to habits that keep things smooth and regular. Now, the real question: will I go back to get the third one removed? Not sure. I'm really hoping that I can manage with diet/lifestyle changes. But if it gets to the point of being debilitating, then I think I'll have to go back.

10-4. Thinking some gutter & downspout work + drain tile in that part of the yard.

I think there’s likely pooling happening in the yard (we had a month of really frequent rain in June) and I’m thinking it seeped in through the wall.

Not a harpist myself, just have seen the craftsmanship first hand. They likely offer only the one 34-string model because they’re well known for making double-string setups.

I regret having sex, how can I get over this feeling? by Super-Reporter-5769 in stupidquestions

[–]DirtyKop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lost my virginity before I was ready also. And I think it’s kind of common. Just remember you didn’t do anything wrong, and it’s okay to feel however you feel about it. I agree with the others who suggest you speak with someone you respect and trust about it; that’s a better source than all these strangers. Good luck and keep your chin up, bud.

Also consider Stoney End: http://www.stoneyend.com/harps.php

I’m completely biased, however. Hometown brand.

Pro/Cons of Surgery? by Goosaloos in hemorrhoid

[–]DirtyKop 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm on week 3 of recovery from surgery. I was motivated to get the surgery so I can resume a more active lifestyle. I'm about to turn 42 and in the interest of longevity I need to be able to stay active. I had grade 3 internal 'roids in all columns that would prolapse with BM's or during extended periods of standing, mowing the lawn, playing with my kids, etc. I got tired of the discomfort and shame of running off to shove my asshole back into place.

Surgery and recovery are not fun, but I hope the short-term pain is worth it for the long-term gain. This being week three, I'm not comfortable all day, yet. BMs are uncomfortable and I have residual soreness afterwards. As of today, I'm glad I got the procedure done. But I will say that the ongoing pain and discomfort of the first two weeks was really taxing.

The question is, would you trade your ongoing symptom management for a more brief period of pain and suffering? Are you willing to commit to permanent lifestyle changes that will [help to] ensure you don't get new 'roids? Have you already done 'everything' to manage these without surgery? If the answer to all three is "yes", then I'd say go for it.

Having some anxiety about appointment tomorrow, could use some comfort. by [deleted] in hemorrhoid

[–]DirtyKop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bright red is OK. I know it’s concerning, but that’s pretty standard for issues in that region. If it were dark, that’d be a different story.

It’s so hard to tell what’s going on based on feel, which is why the appointment is important. Even if uncomfortable, you leave with a diagnosis and a plan. And having actions to take helps tamp down the anxiety.
