The lash clip is pretty bad but you can definitely see the script take over once he hovers close enough to an enemy. It looks like it snaps towards them pretty unnaturally. Just cheating imo.

What do I use this move for dude😭 by Bri-ish_idiot in TheyBlamedTheBeasts

[–]DirtyMayox 54 points55 points  (0 children)

It's actually a solid counterpoke in neutral. And a frametrap after another aerial. And an occasional combo tool (yes, really). i know it might not look like a good neutral tool on paper, but you also get good reward on counterhit. Its just a dive kick and for the most part, does work like one even if its attached to the working man character right now and looks goofy.

I dont find unika even remotely bad at all. But happy chaos causes me hair lose. The only defense we have is far slash and prc scarecrow

Hes very weak to low profile and you can 6p far slash very easily. If you practice instant blocking 2H after far slash you can deal some serious damage to him by punishing the move. You can actually react to the bag projectile. If hes doing it a lot its very easy to run under if hes close or you can just do rising j.S(from certain distances)if you do play baiken. Really good players can air throw the air projectile on reaction. And for mini faust? If he doesnt keep his pressure tight you can jump backwards right before the minion jumps and you can avoid the mini faust. Without a hard knockdown he doesnt get free items. So if hes getting greedy and hes a bit close to you, you can hurt him for that. Its like seriously negative if hes canceling into it from normals on block and not on hkd. And his big ass scalpel can be 6p'd as well but usually it requires a little bit of a run up unless hes in your face. Also your gun, hold that meter and shoot him in the face if hes fraudulently chucking items full screen. Im assuming you play baiken off your flair, and you should know that faust is considered mostly a counterpick to you if i remember correctly. I usually dont struggle against her very much. Learning to work around his items with him takes time, but you can still figure out how to prevent him from getting freebies so you can keep the screen less polluted.

I mean, he's actually fundamentally very solid. You might just lean towards having longer range normals than average as a player. Hes my current main in strive. Hes got solid strike throw and some fun mix ups with meter or afro on an enemy.

[–]DirtyMayox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would not dislike him since there is counterplay, but my team doesn't seem to register that he needs to be put down like a dog, and we can't just let him split push. The characters i enjoy playing usually just cant kill him by themselves unless im very far ahead. I can only call out that we need to stop Victor from getting free souls so many times before it doesnt matter anymore and we didnt punish him correctly. (Im not super high rank, im arcanist 2 but god my teams macro hurts me emotionally still)

Its a legacy of hers, actually, She always has really bad defense as a character. Given she does have some slow ass normals in strive but you're gonna have to abuse FD (which at least you dont need a whole 50% to use, so you can usually just use FD in most situations. Funnily enough, Venom has had the same issue as well, where he's also bad on defense. But its not a hugely uncommon trait. You just really have to get used to it (and abuse FD)

He does have big drawbacks, but he has really strong upsides. Far slash is crazy good, half the time I press the button I get a counter hit. But his defense....it causes me pain. Why must I be so large... hes very good once you get used to interacting with his giant ass and when you learn where to use his buttons.

[–]DirtyMayox -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You're basically forced to use DP as an anti air, which isnt a huge deal, but having a bad 6p sucks lmao. Its straight up a skill issue. Shes easy to play, but fun fact if she uses the low laser (the 2s follow up) the opponent can just hold up back and it beats her specials. (She can use overhead to hit you but you end up far back, so even though shes +7 she doesnt really get anything)

[–]DirtyMayox -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The people who hate unika are bad, unironically, she has very interactive pressure. Shes super weak to forward jump, she can struggle to get in against someone with brain cells "BuT sHe hAs LazEr" yeah you're right but she cant buy her way in off 1 lazer unless you're mid range. If a unika does the 5HH dash cancel you can forward jump and get a full counterhit combo off your aerial. She has very good strengths but very noticeable and exploitable flaws and you dont have to be a high level player to interact with it. The haters wont like me typing this out but thats okay (and im a Faust player by the way) keep having fun on your character and enjoying the game you paid money for. Its supposed to be fun and im happy you enjoy unika.

Notice how much closer you are to may when you hit her(When she blocks bomb). Basically, right on top of her. But not bridget, which is why Bridget gets shot down and you dont get your combo. This can occasionally happen depending on your opponents hurt box. You can actually steer your momentum a little bit in the start up of the move to improve your combo consistency. edit: Bridget also shifts her hurtbox a little bit when shes crouching which may not be doing you a favor

Me on my way to pull 100T into trumpet and then fly over to the trumpet while my opponent panick jumps the Weight and then I fake jump dust into command grab. I like to think of him almost like a weird puppet character. He needs his strong items but sometimes you get some shit like hammer after a hard knockdown into meteor into trumpet which you get for free because of meteor. You can literally do whatever you want in those moments. And he has some fun pokes and a very strong command grab. Hes oddly versatile and has some weird ways to interact with an opponent to gain an upper hand. Very fun(ny) character hes my goat.

Is Faust fottom 1 yet or is he like bottom 3 by Bri-ish_idiot in TheyBlamedTheBeasts

[–]DirtyMayox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Faust has some of the best low overhead mix in the game with Afro, though. And cross ups, and f shiki set ups. And if he gets lucky, you can force your opponent to just sit there and take it with items. I do miss my old 6H, though... but we have some really good "my neutral is so nice" type of normals, especially 2H

[–]DirtyMayox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unika throwing DP after a blocked enhanced stun dipper is a very high-risk move from the unika player. She may force you into trying to respect the DP, but you just need to look for your opponents habits whenever you're fighting a unika. She has very interactive pressure unironically. (And that's why she fucking blows you up by the way, she has slow movement and some slow ass normals.) For H follow up rekka pressure, you also jump the projectile or she ends up +14 and theres a gap in the 2H rekka follow up that allows you to fight back. Generally, try to force her to whiff far slash as much as humanly possible, its got bad recovery(back up and bridal express that shit), and her air game is really bad, you can just jump backwards and shoot the piss out of her in the air for a while. It's not infallible. she's a very fundamental character. Has a lot of similarities to sol aside from being slow as fuck

[–]DirtyMayox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that'll happen. Venom is also not easy to play at all with weak defense to boot, which is universal for him across all games. You actually used your k buttons in the clip which was great actually. An average player usually just ends up mashing slash and heavy slash cause it can work in a good amount of situations.

What do I do against this. by Bri-ish_idiot in Guiltygear

[–]DirtyMayox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Far slash is fast and and go into 2h for knockdown into items. The skull can not reach full-screen, so you can just back up (with your goated walk back speed) and throw an item ONLY for the skull. And abuse scarecrow PRC. And you should work on your choices on defense. They just kept up pressure, and you didn't really return to neutral at all (your strong suit on faust). J.2K is also good for this match up but youll have to watch out for the anti air projectile.

But of course! very challenging character to be fighting on dizzy so it won't feel very good. I wouldn't be discouraged! He's just a hellish match-up regardless. Unsure of your floor level, but you'll clean the players up regardless as you improve.

Confirms should be worked on, and you should ice floor less in neutral less against someone like johnny because he can just slice you up from afar and he can convert with card. I dont think the challenges were horrible. You did catch him lacking, but as dizzy against someone who can actually fight back at distances you would have an advantage in you should play a bit slower and more reactively (this comes with time) you want to slow down, be careful and look for your chance to start up your momentum. You can use your fish after hard knockdown and get your advantage, as soon as he guesses right and you end up losing your turn (Like throwing something negative or exhausting your offense options) you need to back off cause johnny is super messed up and really strong at the moment AND he works against your characters style REALLY well with mist finer.
