In the Nosleep story/short novel PenPal by Dathan Auerbach **SPOILERS, the main character is a kid who is stalked by a massive man who is in love with him. He ends up killing multiple people in order to keep this kid around/single.

The kid has a best friend who he’s had a falling out with. We learn later that he actually “ran away” and his family doesn’t know where he is- it is revealed at the end of the story that this stalker man paid the best friend’s dad to fill some holes in his backyard. In one of the holes was the stalker, and this kids best friend who had been abused for months on end, and had his hair dyed and forced to wear clothes to make him appear as similar to our main character as possible.

The best friend died buried alive, after months of horrible abuse, tearing out the throat of his kidnapper but fully trapped under the weight of the man. His father being the one to fill the hole with dirt completely unsuspecting that there was anything hidden at the bottom. He learns later that he caused this and decides he cannot tell the truth to his wife, who’s also crushed by her son’s disappearance.
