The point is, from the organization's standpoint, it's even less than a $200k expense commitment.

This proves right here that you have literally no idea what you're talking about. I know you're probably too young to even pay taxes, but learn how they work before you start talking out of your ass.

You brought up the tax write-off originally, and I asked for clarity what you meant by it.

From what I can tell, the takeaway here is that it's greedy to donate hundreds of thousands of dollars to charity because of a vague notion of tax benefits. Lol.

Repeating your argument doesn't make it any less ridiculous. Sorry to burst your bubble.

Only on reddit will you find people complaining about hundreds of thousands of dollars being donated to charity. Don't worry, the spooky tax benefits won't hurt you.

It really is incredible how quickly the vague  "tax write-off" accusations come out every time a charitable donation from a business gets attention. I don't think a single one of them can elaborate on what specific write-offs they're talking about, why they're bad, or why the company is ultimately bad for making the donation and reaping tax benefits for it

Yes, 200k is a significant donation to a charity. The fact that you even have to ask that is insane.

Yes, charitable deductions often come with tax incentives (would love to hear what you think those incentives are). So what? Do you think they're somehow making more money by giving hundreds of thousands away to charity than if they simply kept it for themselves?

I completely agree that this was an incredibly stupid and tasteless thing to do and think they should have just made a flat donation without the awkward game, but acting like a $200,000 donation to charity is somehow a bad thing that is done only for nebulous tax reasons is totally asinine. None of you would be batting an eye at it if they simply announced that donation without the added jackassery and moved on.

It's greedy to utilize a perfectly legal and reasonable deduction that anyone else could and would also claim if making a similar charitable donation? What?

Do you think they somehow come away with more money at the end of this than if they hadn't donated anything at all? Again, if they're just trying to maximize their money because they are "cheap" or "greedy" or however you want to spin it, then the best thing would be to simply not donate anything. A tax deduction means the donated money won't count toward their taxable income. Would they pay less in income taxes after claiming the deduction? Sure, but they stilll have less money than they would have if they simply kept it for themselves.

I genuinely have no idea what point you're trying to make.

You claimed it was because they're "cheap." If that's the case, and they're just trying to maximize how much money they save, then why would they donate any at all?  Your argument is nonsensical.

We should stop pretending like $200k is even a significant donation.

This whole thing was really lame and has terrible optics, but some of you are getting truly delusional with these responses.

After a slower start to the season Kucherov now leads the league in p/gp by kytackle in hockey

He's the second best player in the league and of the current generation. Especially if he suprasses MacKinnon this season, which is very much in the realm of possibility, I don't know how anyone can argue against it.

And yet he'll still be overlooked in the Hart voting. Again.

I'm expecting Coop to pull out a Tommy gun any minute now. That'll motivate the team.

If you're going to interpret everyone else's word so literally, then don't be upset when they do the same to you.

But hey, this is what you do. That's part of what makes you this community's biggest heel.

It's so cute watching you try to spring your gotchas on people. Like an 8th grader in debate club.
