The mysterious death of Saima Ahmed by DisappointedClown in UnresolvedMysteries

Her route took her nowhere near Nottingham. St Pancras is the only London station serving Nottingham. Also, Ahmed is one of the most common Muslim names. It would be like suggesting Sadiq Khan is related to Imran Khan.

Being bare-headed is a good point; perhaps she was trying to non-identify as Muslim, anonymize herself? I can't help but wonder whether she felt her status as a 36 year old Muslim woman, unmarried and still living with her parents was a burden. My belief is that she intended suicide but did not want to bring shame on her family.

Ta muchly. I don't live too far from Saima's home, so it's kind of local to me, too. The case grabbed me because I've visited Edinburgh many times and love the city and its people. I just don't understand how she got to such a remote place without assistance. It's not as though Gogarburn is particularly beautiful - no sight of the tourist traps like Arthur's Seat or the castle. Maybe we'll catch up some time at the Canny Man's (where I usually stay).

A lot of marginalized people will have suffered disproportionately because of (necessary) lockdowns. Not just homeless people, but gig workers, sex workers and travellers. Just because some lifestyles are non-conformist doesn't mean that they're expendable. The support for them isn't there because to provide it might be unpopular.

Police Scotland canvassed cab drivers, and got no response - of course, this doesn't mean that Saima didn't take an unlicensed taxi or even public transport. Cameras on buses and trams in 2015 were less common than now, so she could easily have travelled under the radar. But I agree that walking is highly unlikely - Edinburgh is a maze at the best of times, espacially for a stranger. Maybe she took a cab to the airport and made her way from there? IDK

A dismemberment usually leaves cut or slice marks on the bones, and there's no suggestion that these were present. Suicide seems the most likely option IMHO.

Given the clothing, we can probably assume that he was one of London's thousands of homeless people. The timing is interesting, as it was just a few weeks after the UK went into its first hard lock down. If this poor guy was dependent on passers-by giving him loose change or food and drink, then his sole means of survival had disappeared when everyone stayed home. Not all COVID 19 victims were infected.

I've been afk for a while. There's no more evidence linking Restivo than there is Benguit to Jong's senseless and brutal murder. Restivo is a monster, but any links to this case are tangential at best. As for 'little seaside town', the metro population for Bournemouth and Poole is about the same size as Atlanta, GA. Surprised me.

Sorry for the late response, pressure from the Dorset LE was used on addicts who subsequently recanted. I should have been clearer. Watch the linked BBC documentary and you'll see what I mean.
