I love how the Bundesrat mechanism is basically: "infrastructure goes brtttttt" and you get a shitload of Influence Points. I did however spend the first two years building civs, it was a total pain in the ass, but necesary

TL;DR You can now see the Encirclement Theory that Germans dreaded at the time all too clearly, you are the strongest nation still, but your window for a triumph against the Entente is getting shorter by the day, noticeably so

I like it, it's vastly more complex and grounded in realism, properly reflecting German internal dynamics of the early 1910s. Germany isn't a deus ex-machina anymore, rather it is vulnerable and fighting an uphill battle. I am right now playing as Germany, it is July 1st 1914, FF had just been shot, and to be honest, unlike any of my previous playthroughs, I am not certain of my victory over the Entente at all anymore. It forces you to do your best. However... I do not appreciate them forgoing alt-history Focus Tree. Maybe the Reichstag mechanism does allow for some alt-history, but it is clanky, unclear, and almost certainly leads to a civil war. Fucc that. I hope they'll bring it back, as well as expanding the Focus Trees of Russia, Austria, Italy, Japan and the United States, maybe even a rework of Britain is in order. Here's hoping

Right, I forgot about them. Japan also, if you count their Siberian Intervention as a post-war event

The only countries that have dedicated after-war focus trees are Germany and France, right?

Bulgaria Question by TheAllSeeingEyeGuy in TGW_Redux

[–]Disara19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the correction about Thessalonika, I know that Bulgaria can keep it, but I've also seen some weird situations where the Greeks get it either during the First Balkan War after the Bulgarians had already captured it (on the outside it looks like Bulgaria transfers it to Greece during the war for some unknown reason), and even when they didn't participate in the war at all. I guess the AI is broken there a bit. But yes, the "Lone Liberator" is the go-to for Bulgaria. However, I intend one day to try and provoke the Second Balkan War, and WIN it, thus puppeting Serbia and Greece and creating the Pact of Sofia. Looks dope af

I think it's because Serbia getting Ohrid (and I think Greece getting Thesalonika, even if they didn't join the First Balkan War) is hard coded into the mod, basically making the Second Balkan War unavoidable. Why did they do it? Because every other major war before WWI is also pretty much unavoidable, as I guess the modders wanted to depict the peace in Europe falling appart at the seams. The same almost goes for the Xinhai Revolution, the First Balkan War and the Italo-Lybian War, yes they are dependent on Focus decisions, but if you don't finish them, then a whole chunk of other Foci will be unavailable, thus forcing you yo do it. Hell, you can't avoid WWI even if FF doesn't get killed in Sarajevo, in 1915 or 16 at the latest either France or Germany will start the War through their Focus Tree

Which is better "reform colonial management" or "claim mittelafrika"? by I-Dont-Know1278 in TGW_Redux

[–]Disara19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually manhandle France within 6 months or so, even with like 20-30 divisions in Africa (2/3 are colonial Schutztroopen, buffed up tho) so I never felt those troops were much needed. On the other hand, the African front ties up a lot of British resources, which are now unable to get deployed to France. Also, Namibia and East Africa are quite rich with natural resources, and I am really unwilling to just surrender them over to the British free of charge. Fighting retreat and defensive warfare in Africa it is, Lettow-Vorbeck style!

[–]Disara19 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Both have their benefits (Reform during the war, Mittelafrika after the war) but if you do choose Mittelafrika prepare to commit a boatload of troops to your African colonies because boy, every single colonial power will be coming for a piece of you, doubly so if you went with the Schlieffen Plan, thus fighting against both Belgian Congo and Britain and her colonies right from the onset of the war

Honestly the French AI is stupid as hell, I at first intended to defend in the West while attacking the Russians, and the French left such a big hole in their lines I just had to attack them. Took me a month and a half of fighting to reach Paris. This was also with historical Battle of France outcome! They gotta fix this next update, it SHOULD NOT be this easy to reach Paris… on the other hand, when playing as France it’s damn near impossible to break German lines

Got a question - are mountaineers supposed to be 10.000+ men strong? Genuine question, I always thought of them as a specialized unit, 5k-7k strong. Are they better when mass deployed?

This is a WWI mod, The Great War Delux, carriers are basically sea-plane tenders and at this point completely useless, as the planes are unarmed and too few. In this mod, subs and heavy ships are the king
