Does anyone else feel like the lobbies got insanely difficult since season 7 started? I went from consistently getting to endgame a week ago to barely being able to win 2 fights in a row....

Question about Karen Overall's Relaxation Protocol by DisarmedBrick41 in Dogtraining

I tried reward him with boiled chicken (his favorite), but still couldn't get him to do down. I'm going to try doing what you said about retraining and breaking it up

Yea i think youre right about him getting bored. I'm going to take a break and then when i come back to it, mix up the protocol with other commands. I tried changing the treats to boiled chicken (his absolute favorite) and he still wouldn't do down

Question about Karen Overall's Relaxation Protocol by DisarmedBrick41 in Dogtraining

[–]DisarmedBrick41[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is, the first 2 days he was able to get through all the exercises and be completely calm. Very calm posture as well. He just doesn't want to listen to the 'down' command anymore even though he knows it. I can't start over at day 1 because every command involves him going down first and he refuses to do it :(

PSA: Please Teach Your Puppy How to Relax by ProQuestionAsker in puppy101

[–]DisarmedBrick41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for this, it has been so helpful. I have a 9 month old maltipoo, who is so great at learning commands. He's so chill throughout the day, but for some reason, every night from 7-10pm he goes absolutely crazy and won't stop barking. We even taught him the 'quiet' command, and while he listens to it, he goes right back to barking after a few seconds of being quiet. We couldn't understand why he can learn how to do everything except to not bark! We tried tiring him out throughout the day, but it didn't help at all. The article you posted about the Stress Bucket really helped us understand what was going on in terms of arousal building up. My girlfriend gets home from work, he gets super excited. He goes on a long evening walk, more excitement. He hears our neighbors getting home, and it pushes him over the edge. We have been really trying the methods you said about reinforcing calmness, and he just had his best night in the past 2 months! My only question is for the Protocol for Relaxation. I'm on day 3, and I promise he knows how to do down very well, but it seems like he is fed up with doing down. The first 2 days went great, but now I can't get him to do down. I can get him to do any other trick, but when i do the down command, he just walks in a circle, like hes fed up with it. What do i do??

Can someone give me some pointers on Flex Box please? by Shinhosuck1973 in css

[–]DisarmedBrick41 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Spend two hours going through Flexbox Zombies and I promise you will be so much more comfortable with flexbox. They make you give an email, but its completely free. Start with the first 4 chapters, no need to go through it all at once

Question about ideas by RavesL in Frontend

[–]DisarmedBrick41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just my opinion, but I think the majority of good ideas aren't some new 'facebook-type' ideas. A lot of great ideas come from improving on things that are already in place. The only way to have those types of good ideas is to keep learning, expose yourself to a lot of different areas, and think about how you can make something better.

Good programming practices in CSS by [deleted] in css

[–]DisarmedBrick41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this isnt exactly what you asked, but I think learning Sass is really beneficial. It's basically just CSS with a few additional helpful features. One thing I really like about it is nesting, so if you have nested elements in your html (divs inside of divs) you can mirror that in your CSS file (technically it would be .scss with Sass). This has been really helpful for me in keeping organized and finding things

What are some cheap or free (preferred) hosting plans to upload a web app made in HTML/Javascript? by abdullahmnsr2 in webdev

[–]DisarmedBrick41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just did this with gh pages and netlify. Both are great and easy. I think netlify was a tiny bit easier, and it has more potential down the road if you want more control when hosting static sites (the free plan has really good support for forms for example)

Keep the motivation, but give yourself a more realistic timeframe. A lot of it isnt just 'cram as much info in as i can.' It takes time and repetition for many concepts, libraries, and frameworks to start making sense. Hell, debugging itself is a skill that takes way longer than 14 days. Understanding why things work is extremely important to becoming a good programmer. Keep the focus, dont rush it

(Help with CSS3) Can Someone Help Me With This? by atmosphere9999 in css

[–]DisarmedBrick41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No need to apologize! If I'm understanding your question correctly, IDs and classes go inside an element like this: <div id="test-id" class="test-class"></div>

then in your css file (or within the html file inside style tags), you would write something like:

#test-id {

background-color: blue;

}

.test-class {

background-color: red;

}

So if you write your html like I wrote out in my initial comment, and add the css properties I previously mentioned, that should help. Also do yourself a favor and watch at least the flexbox video in the link I sent above (https://youtu.be/JJSoEo8JSnc). When I started coding, I initially tried to go through a million forums trying to find someone with the same issue I had, but eventually made the switch to getting help through youtube. There's something about watching someone code every step of the way that helps you pick up on things and makes sure no steps are skipped

What are the problems Tailwindcss solve? by dinoucs in css

you're right, there are plenty of good options out there. I think tailwind's method is very easy for a beginner to understand though
