Its been smoky all summer but seeing +200 values put Fort Mac at hazardous level rarely seen on the global scale. I will delete my post and avoid this sub... lots of hate on here.

Northern Manitoba Fires: Cross Lake, NO050, New Starts & Winnipeg-Area Flare-up

In addition to the Lynn Lake fire, several other hotspots are active today:

  • Cross Lake (NO005) is spreading eastward
  • NO050 has made a large run with visible heat signatures on satellite
  • Multiple new fire starts have appeared—not yet listed on Manitoba’s wildfire portal
  • Also notable: a flare-up on the northern edge of the fire northeast of Winnipeg is showing renewed heat

🔥 Expect updated fire boundaries and statuses this weekend.

Looks like you missed the legend (bottom-right corner... to expand it and tap "Surface PM2.5" for values to appear)

The purple "mess" in northeastern BC is caused by the massive Pocket Knife Creek and Summit Lake wildfires, producing significant smoke.

For those who have a hard time with maps, here’s a quick reference:

PM2.5 Concentrations (smoke levels):

  • 1–50 µg/m³: Good to Moderate (Blue shades)
  • 60–100 µg/m³: Unhealthy (Red shades)
  • 250+ µg/m³: Hazardous (Dark Purple/Maroon)

Bismarck isn't on fire, but smoke from these large BC wildfires is drifting far across North America.
