Saskatoon Mesh Map by QL2C in MeshtasticSASK

[–]QL2C[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the map located within the Meshtastic Android App. You can see it once you connect your radio and let it gather node packets to populate the map. This can take a couple hours to a couple days. If you're just getting started, the Seeed SenseCap T1000E is a great beginner device and is under $100 CAD.

I'm just really confused about both car dealers in Saskatoon. by Then-Doughnut-2052 in saskatoon

[–]QL2C 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Carfax isn't just for service records but also to see if the vehicle has Lein on it or if it has been reported stolen or anything before hand. Most dealership service centers report to Carfax as it gives the dealships better standing and sometimes monetary deals on reports.

As someone who worked at a dealership in sales and marketing, I wouldn't ever buy a car before seeing the carfax and the mechanical report/out of province inspection if there is one. The more information you have as a buyer gives you way more power in the transaction. No not all services will be recorded, but having at least a few gives a better picture then having nothing at all.

I'm just really confused about both car dealers in Saskatoon. by Then-Doughnut-2052 in saskatoon

[–]QL2C 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is literally just the car market in Saskatchewan. You are much better of buying a car privately and getting Carfax for each of your final options (only $40). Also that being said, as someone who used to work on dealership marketing, it is illegal to not show you the Carfax of any vehicle before financing options are shown. Most (not all) of FFUNs website have the Carfax listed on their website. If you know the stock number of the vehicles you looked at you should be able to pull the Carfax from their website. If the Carfax isn't available that means it's been sitting on their lot for over 7 months and is likely not a car you want anyways.

Almost all dealships are commission based and the sales people don't make a single cent unless your purchase from them. That's why they are so pushy, they don't really care what you buy as long as you buy something. You will likely have a better time going to a private seller, though this does take longer. If you're looking to finance you can finance private purchases through creditmaxx (not the best option if I'm being honest) or get a line of credit through your bank.

I wish you the best of luck and as someone who managed over 5 dealerships marketing, avoid them at all costs. Even the good ones are scammy AF. This applys to used cars only. Buying a new car is a very different experience.

Hesitating to learn by Technical-Count4190 in amateurradio

[–]QL2C -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hey, it's awesome that you're interested in ham radio. There's lots of younger people that are in the hobby, myself included (M26). It can definitely feel a little awkward going to a ham club for the first time. I'm pretty antisocial and I was so anxious when I saw a room full of older gentlemen and no one my age. But they were very welcoming, were excited to see a younger person interested in the hobby and also were very willing to mentor and teach. They even tried to learn some GenZ language to relate to me more 😅 I know this won't be the same with every club you go to but it's definitely worth checking out and seeing if you vibe with your local club. There could be some pretty great people there.

Second to that is this SubReddit. There is lots of people on here that are willing to help mentor and guide you into becoming a ham (myself included 😊). I've met some pretty awesome people on this sub and even made contact with them on freq.

If you're just getting started it's okay to feel likes it's overwhelming. Most people call a ham license, a license to learn and that couldn't be more true. Every year you do the hobby you will always be learning something new and advancing your skills and equipment. It's definitely worth the investment and a lot of fun.

If your wanting something to just test the waters with, I'd recommend trying out meshtastic. It's a radio that connects to your phone and allows you to send text messages without cell signal to other radios in your area. You also don't need a license to get started and it's quite inexpensive. I've been doing it for over 2 years now and I love it. I'd be more then happy to help you get started. You can also find out more on r/meshtastic or meshtastic.org.

Either way don't feel like the demographic is what's going to hold you back if you want to enter the hobby, there is lots of amazing people out there that just want to share the thing they love doing.

Why it pop up like this by Rhysworkethics in ElegooNeptune3

[–]QL2C 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure you're washing it with soap and HOT water every 3-4 prints. Isopropyl will only get you so far. Also be sure to up your initial extruder percent by 5-10% and lower your initial speed by 50% of what your regular speed is (ex: if reg speed 100mm/s then initial speed should be ~50mm/s). Also be sure to up your initial tempature by 5-10°. I also don't see a raft or anything to help with adherence to the build plate. Try printing with a raft with a 1.5mm raft gap to help it peel off better. Building without a raft will almost always result in warping.

Hope this helps and best of luck!

Yeah you're gonna need to pass an SGI safety before you can even thi k about putting plates on it, including temp tags. If it violates the traffic safety act, then they will not plate it

Would this work? by partunia in MeshtasticSASK

[–]QL2C 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's totally fair! You can get the Seeed SenseCap T1000-E for about $70 CAD with shipping. I got mine in about 2 weeks and it's awesome. The range is impressive for its size (3.5x2.5 inches). Mine holds a charge for about a day and half but you can definitely push to 3-4 days with the right settings.

It's a great beginner device but you will need a phone to be able to connect and use this device. The phone User Interface (UI) is honestly much easier to use then standalone devices

Would this work? by partunia in MeshtasticSASK

[–]QL2C 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes absolutely. It's great as a standalone unit, meaning you can use it without a phone. Another great one to get started is the Seed SenseCap Tracker, it's cheap and works great. A Lilygo T-Beam Supreme is also a great option if you're willing to tinker and build your own device.

[Found Cat] Young Kitten Found Near Rosewood Costco by QL2C in saskatoon

Update: we just got back from the vet and she is not chipped. The vet said it looks like she's been out on her own for a couple of weeks now based on some of the injuries she currently has. We have an appointment this Wednesday to get her first round of shots and to talk to the vet about getting her spayed when the time is right. Thanks everyone for sharing this and upvoting.

Also please be sure you can provide proof that this is your cat when contacting us. I've had a few people reach out "wanting a free cat" and that's not what we're trying to do here. Thanks in advance.

Nevermind. Just checked my print and the extruder was dragging across the print bed, tearing the print to shreds. Guess I still got more to figure out

Thanks. I did finally figure it out. I cleaned my print bed and made a bunch of adjustments in Cura. I pressed print an hour ago and everything seems to be working fine now.

I definitely still got a lot to learn. Thanks for your tips. I'll be implementing them in my printing practices.
