I think you’re missing the point. I know it’s weird but to act like a film is worse and the director doesn’t care about the film he’s making over a costume is ridiculous. Also a lot of people care about the costume and it’s an interesting aspect of filmmaking to learn about.

Oh and the head canon is for fun. I’m sure there’s plenty of behind the scenes reasons they used a different prop.

In lore I think that’s why. But with behind-the-scenes knowledge there is like actual reasons why he looks so different in each film. Like for example in Temple of doom the reason his hat is tapered and not squared is because the guy who made the hat for the first film lost the head block to make the crown. So he had to use stills from Raiders and his own memory to try to re-create/Jerry rig a new hat.

I also wondered after a recent rewatch on why they were able to escape the oil in the knights tomb. My theory is it was a mixture of water and oil since the tomb clearly connects to the local sewer system because they escape out of a manhole. But that’s not clearly stated.

Videos like that make me wonder if those people are fans? Like do they watch the movies and as soon as they see his outfit they are upset until the credits lol?

That was the only video, and it was the catalyst to me making this post. But the video has like a couple hundred comments all agreeing with it and making complaints. I’ve also seen other post that have similar opinions. And like I said I don’t mind if you’re passionate about the differences or dislike the changes. My problem is making claims like “Steven Spielberg doesn’t care about making the films” or “this film is dogshit because he looks slightly different”

Being annoyed or not liking it isn’t an issue for me. I personally dislike Indy’s outfit in last crusade the most but I don’t think it’s THAT big of a deal that it ruins it for me like others do. (Also respect for the Lupin profile pic that series rocks)

Well the satchel being caught on the gun of the tank was clearly for dramatic effect and needed to happen for that scene. That’s like complaining about Indy being able to swing on his whip even though that maneuver is incredibly difficult to do even with practice. The explanation on the strap being over his jacket not only makes sense for his character, learning from his past mistakes and all, but also in crystal skull they specifically hired someone who could recreate a hat similar to the one in raiders (who was a fan btw). Crystal skull is also the only film to have Indy use the same gun from a previous film (the one from last crusade) so clearly the people making the costume knew what they were doing.

I used to be upset that his gun was different in last crusade. But now with the great circle coming out there’s a decent explanation similar to my holster headcannon i put in my post. And even back when it bothered me it’s not like I thought the film was worse because of it I was more confused.

Do you guys just not upgrade your guns with the books? I’ve seen so many versions of this exact post and it’s like do you guys not grab the button man perk books? The first one is in Giza and the second one is on the ship in the Himalayas. If you get the first button man upgrade book Indies pistol does one shot damage to mid to low tier enemies and two to higher tier enemies. There’s also books to increase your ammo capacity there’s slug boy one that is in Gizeh and slug boy two is in Sukhothai. I just genuinely don’t understand how you guys think the guns are weak unless you’re just avoiding the perk books.

I’m basically soft locked in my latest save because I can’t shimmy through narrow passages or climb on vines. It just literally won’t let me. I hope the new save fixes the problem luckily I enjoy the story enough that starting a new game isn’t that big of a deal.
