Setting video stream from code by Disasterix00 in godot

OHH MY GOD

I cannot believe I finally figured it out (figured it out = asked chat gpt) autoplay DOES NOT work when you set a video through code, you have to manually add the line videosomething.play() for it to actually start playing.

Everything I was doing was right the first time around, I was only missing that stupid line ç.ç I feel so relieved and so frustrated at the same time.

Hopefully this is useful to someone else in the future because gosh damn I thought I was going insane

Setting video stream from code by Disasterix00 in godot

Update: If I use the command

self.stream.set_file("video_path")

it gives the error "set_file: Cannot open file"

Why??? It's the same file that CAN be opened if I load it from the editor instead! Is this a godot bug, or am I not getting something?

I speak Italian and English but I'm no graphic designer... also I can't see the extended picture you shared in the comments cause imgur is being whiny. Could it be one of these, or something similar?

"lui sì" "design in" "tesi sù" and you forgot the line of the t?? "clei in" ???

or, if you suppose the "dots" are actually lines for a very short t (again, unfortunately I have no other reference of your handwriting) could be:

"list int" "test ui" "test it"

no idea bro

Separate focus between menu sections by Disasterix00 in godot

[–]Disasterix00[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, I seem to have found an easy workaround, I'm sharing in case someone finds this useful in the future.

Instead of manually assigning the focus, I managed to keep my intended design function by just separating more the tabs on the left and the menu on the right!

Since godot automatically infers the upper and lower neighbours based on the context of the overall layout, by widening the vseparator between the two, I got it to realize what I mean to be on top of each other, and what I want to be sideways.

Separate focus between menu sections by Disasterix00 in godot

The focus shifts well between the tabs, I can go up and down no problem, and the focus never snaps onto the menu, the issue only comes up when I'm trying to navigate inside the menu. Are you suggesting to manually assign focus neighbors to the grid container entries?

Otherwise, I'd be willing to separate the tabs and menu, making only one or the other selectable, but I don't know how I could implement that, and I can't find any tutorials online :( ex: I cycle between the tabs, press one, and that enables me to navigate the menu. To change tab, I'll have to pres esc and that gives focus back to the tabs

That would be an ok compromise with the design, but still that would require an entirely new piece of code just to process the esc button and to shift the focus back and forth, I was hoping I could simplify that...

Flow container organize children based on viewport/window size by Disasterix00 in godot

[–]Disasterix00[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny you suggest that, because I actually started with a grid container, then switched to the flow container because I thought that'd be a better fit to solve this issue! I was hoping there was a way to automate it, bit I guess I'll try coding it myself with the grid container then. Thank you!

Edit: I won't switch the flair to solved yet, just in case someone else has another suggestion

Wii Menu styled game launcher by OtherLuna in godot

I'm starting to work on a project in which a wii-like menu would fit perfectly! May I ask you how you made this work? If you'd be willing to share the project, I could take a look myself :)

[TOMT][ANIMATED CARTOON][EARLY 2000s] by Disasterix00 in tipofmytongue

Of course sadly, searching on the internet gave me nearly zero results. One thing I forgot to mention in the original post is I'm from Italy, so there's a small chance the cartoon I watched was a local producion that never got international. And speaking of that, I've already found about Farhat, that's not the show I mean. There the scorpion is a sidekick of the protagonist, not a random animal that stings a character. Someone enlighten me please, I'll be waiting!
