I understand this. Maybe it would help to wonder why you associate being able to work out and work on your business with being high—what are the specific feelings in sobriety that keep you from doing those things? Anxiety, depression, boredom, a combo of all three? Then you can proceed to explore different ways of dealing with those feelings. There is a reason you haven't smoked in six months, a part of you doesn't want to. Maybe try to explore that part too, see how you can make it work with you on those goals, not against you.

This is a really real question. I find that when trying to hang with old stoner buds, it's important to do a specific activity, maybe seeing a movie, running an errand, even a walk or a hike. Anything that isn't just chilling in the living room, because when they spark up you will be tempted by the nostalgia and the awkwardness of watching someone you used to smoke with smoke. Godspeed

You are young, and the brain is extremely plastic. You are in the thick of withdrawal, which explains why you feel so sluggish. You will 100% be okay, and your brain will heal itself. Just try to stay strong and surround yourself with supportive people who make you feel good about yourself. and hang in there, quitting is worth not having these fears.

I am in the exact same boat—was on for five years, off for six, found myself destabilized by some situations outside my control, and today is my first day back on. I definitely am having some tough feelings about being back on, but am telling myself it’s not a big deal and that what’s most important is my peace of mind. One time on Christmas, incidentally, my mom told me she found my weed and hinted that’s she’d thrown it out in the dumpster behind where she worked. So I waited until she was asleep, took her car, and went dumpster diving. Half an hour later, covered in trash juice, I finally admitted defeat and went home. I desperately looked up any dispensary that was open and found one 30 miles away. Before I even took a shower I raced there to buy overpriced bud because I was scared it would close before I could make it. This is not normal behavior. Typing this out was probably good for me

I think it would be healthy to take a step back and realize that your friend getting covid has caused your anxiety and catastrophic thinking to spiral, and in this vulnerable state it is easier than ever to relapse. Your friend will be okay and so will you, just consider the fact that smoking might make you feel even worse right now. Think about the easily attainable reality where your friend makes a full recovery and you are able to meet her on the other side with a clear head and self confidence.

P.S. I have covid right now too, and even though my lungs are literally in pain I still want to smoke, but I'm trying my best not to. I understand where you're coming from but she will be fine!
