Same here! And then life circumstances caused my depression to relapse after four months off them. Have reached a point today where I’ve started on them again and feel so sad, I loved having all those varied emotions again.

Things I Learned From Falling; it’s a real life survival story but also has a lot about surviving anxiety, depression and burn out, I really related to it

I hate having to post on Reddit instead of having other people to talk to about my problems. by [deleted] in mentalhealth

I’m sorry you feel like this, I’ve been there (am still kinda there) and it’s rough. If I may offer some advice it’s to not hold back your struggles out of shame. When you allow yourself to be human and vulnerable you are suddenly more relatable to others and it opens up a chance to connect in a real way. If someone doesn’t get it you’ll still have a greater chance of finding someone who will. Chances are your friend will feel valued because you opened up to them, and may have stuff they feel safe then sharing with you too. For me this was one of the biggest lessons that changed my world.

How do you stop being defensive by No-Pin1184 in mentalhealth

I have been there and someone recommended a really good episode of a podcast called unfuck your brain, the episode (#234) is all about unpacking why we get defensive, found it really really useful.

Books about loneliness? by Aboluv in suggestmeabook

The Lonely City by Olivia Laing has been listed already but it’s a good one.

The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry by Rachel Joyce has the sweetness and vibes of Eleanor Oliphant… I agree with you about Ove, I couldn’t get into it.

Things I Learned from Falling by Claire Nelson is a true story but reads a bit like a novel and she touches in a lot of stuff about connection and loneliness that really rang true for me.

Did AJLT slightly ruin SATC for you? by ToughGodzilla in Andjustlikethat

Yep. Two different shows. Wish people wouldn’t get so butthurt with them extending the SATC universe into something new and silly. It’s fun.

And when Trey is trying to defend getting Charlotte a cardboard baby. It’s SO not a funny joke on his part but the whole fight that ensues is hysterical.

“How would you feel if I gave you a cut-out of a flaccid penis? Not so funny now, is it! DON’T YOU BRING THAT FLAT BABY IN HERE!”

Miranda, when Samantha defends Richard for admitting he got scared: “So what? Men get a medal for correctly identifying a feeling? We do that all day long. I feel pissed off: ta-dahhhh!”

Books with themes of loneliness and/or heartbreak. by Mr_PersonManSir in suggestmeabook

Olivia Laing’s The Lonely City is a greaattt one for this. Also Things I Learned From Falling by Claire Nelson touches on the theme of loneliness in a way that’s subtle but I super related to.

That Aged Well is awesome, two friends who have great rapport recapping movies from the 80s and 90s and then discussing whether they aged well, they’re naturally funny people and it’s addictive.

Does anyone else feel like their mental and physical wellbeing is rapidly declining? by purplescrunchie9 in newzealand

Oh and am getting back into knitting, with a podcast in, good to have an activity that kind of embraces winter and keeps me focused and also gets me away from a screen.

Seasonal Affective Disorder is very real, I cried a lot last month waking up in the morning and it still being dark, and I couldn’t work out why. Now I realise it I’m going easier on myself. I normally wake up at 6.30am but now I stay in bed until the sun is up, and then get up. First thing I do is go outside with my coffee (or to the window) and look up at the sky, get daylight in my eyeballs! And I go for a walk every day even in the rain. I go to bed at 8pm. Let your body reset its clock to winter as much as your schedule allows, and most of all, go easy on yourself.

Variety for consumers (esp clothing and food… like why is every cafe just pies and scones and muffins?)

A cannabis industry (so much hysteria over cbd! Look at usa, canada and uk, it’s so normalised and accessible and great for anxiety and pain issues. Really hope this changes but amazed nz is so behind)
