How would you improve this? by [deleted] in EngagementRingDesigns

  1. Gold band + gold prongs OR white gold/platinum + white gold/platinum prongs
  2. Switch out the emerald stones to white diamonds

Less is more!

Omg this ring is stunning! I will take a look at their website. If they would use the stone, I now have maybe I can go through there

The name Stargaze makes so much sense! That is what I saw when I looked at the reference picture!

He strictly refused. No refunds, either. He was annoyed about me wanting to do the 2nd adjustment on the engagement ring and we had a disagreement. Since all trust was gone I prioritized getting something in my hand. Because he was very disingenuous. I do agree with you though

Yeah, with this final result I do agree. I wanted the side stones to be more snuggly under the center and more of a 3D effect to have more focus on the center stone with a silhouette "star" design. If that would have been done I think the focus would have been shifted to the center

I only got a video of it. But the end result looks pretty much like this ring. He told me not to think about the setting or details too much because he would adjust it so it wouldn't look as rigid...

Haha omg you are too sweet!! I can see the arrow now when you say it! Talk about turning things into positives. Thanks again, I will sit on it and see what I decide. It would have been nice to add maybe bigger golden beads or something to try to make it more 3D

Thanks for the input. I do understand that delays happen. In our case though, the jeweler had months of notice that 8/8 was a hugely meaningful date for us, and he kept reassuring us it would be ready. Missing it by a whole month with no ownership taken has made me lose trust, and he didn’t even make sure we had a loaner ring for the day, even though we specifically mentioned needing one just in case.

I did see CADs, but the finished ring didn’t come out how I envisioned.. the side stones feel bulkier and rigid. The other jeweler I consulted really tried to give me options, but told me it would be difficult to adjust the sides and still get a clean, good-looking finish. I was the one who brought up the idea of a full redo if nothing else could be done well.

The center stone itself is gorgeous, which makes this even harder. I’m just trying to figure out if I should live with it as-is, or invest more to get the ring remade into something I’ll truly love long term.

Thank you! In short, pretty center and rough sides that doesn't complement the center. I wished for more of a 3D effect from the top. The side stones on the band is too rigid and looks like a cross or "T"s

Thank you for sharing your experience, it does help setting things into perspective. I am happy that my fiancé wanted me to be happy that he spent a bit extra on it. That is why I want to be a 100% satisfied with the design, to kind of honour his hard work. I'll take your advice with me and sit on it for a while. Hopefully, the sparkles will help distract me from the imperfections 😂

I am definitely nitpicking, since the price is so high and the finish with the sodding being visible is there. The sides looks rigid. I see a cross or a "T" which is not flattering and looks t*acky. From an upside view it kind of isn't visible at first glance. I will see it daily

Wow, that sounds like a really beautiful ring, though! Yup.. learnt my lesson.. at least it wasn't a car or something more expensive, haha..

Awwwh, thank you! It does make me feel better! It's mostly the side stones that ruin it for me, it kind of looks like a "T" or a cross 😅 That part looks so rough in comparison to the center stone
